One of my grandson's has this film on DVD, and had brought it here around Easter last year. I didn't watch it.
I had read and heard all the hype about it and knowing that I still cry at "Bambi", I knew I couldn't sit through this one. At least not yet. I am just discovering the bible all over again, learning abot the real Jesus Christ (as opposed to the complete and total crap that I learned through the WTS) and I am rather raw and tender on this subject to begin with.
Even if it IS very well acted and directed, I'm still VERY gunshy about sitting down and watching it. Maybe in a few months.....or years. Who knows? Things like this really affect me, especally when I know it's not fiction, but actually happened. It takes on a whole different meaing to me, and I often can't deal with films that do this, religious or otherwise.

Ok tetra you really need to stop the racial comments.
While you're at it, maybe you could point out to me where Jesus (specifically) is reported as having done anything worthy of your censure.
Actually, I did'nt say he was worthy of censure. No strong criticism of Jesus the man, if you read the thread I referred to, I basically was saying that I don't see why his suffering is any more valid than anyone elses. Especially as he KNEW, apparently, that he was gonna be back alive in a few days, etc. Kinda takes the sting outta it.
The Babylonian Talmud is the most racist religious work yet.
Very true. If people only knew what this book says about gentiles, they`d be shocked. According to the Talmud, us gentiles have no more value than animals.
Tetra:Sure I'm Trinitarian, but I also hold that the OT is the subjective reports of bronze-age people. You'll be telling me next that the recent Tsunami is the work of Christ, because some "Christian groups" say it was
Avishai:
I read your thread, alright, and wasn't all that cheerful about the tone of what you wrote there, either. I didn't comment, however, because you're well within your rights to let off a little steam, just as you are here.
My comments are more directed at where you stated "Jesus got off easy." in the context of this thread about the movie "The Bashing of the Christ".
In this case I determined that you overstepped a personal mark, and so called you on it. Would you rather I'd taken it to PM? If so, I apologise.
why did jesus only resurrect certain people?
Nah, I don't need it taken to pm, I can handle criticism. Once again, sorry if I offended.
Personally, if Jesus does exist and is in cahoots with this whole allowing suffering for a cosmic bar bet, well, then, I'm not overly fond of your buddy. However, the things he said and did as a MAN were pretty cool!!! As a god? Well, not such a good track record.
Hellrider ---- I suggest you read the story . It's clear the jews were responsible . Pontius Pilot mentioned the jewish tradition at passover to free a prisoner and thus gave them a choice between jesus and barabbas. At which time they said the afore mentioned . You are right that it could be interpreted to mean all jews but only by an idiot . The people directly responsible still had a chance with the apostles . Jesus did condemn caiaphas .I just hate the way Gibson just edited the bible to please the jews . I actually waited to get a blockbuster MVP membership so actually didn't pay to see the movie , so there . LOL
