Seeker4,
What gets at me, is that people should mention the fact they keep records on people, it rarely gets mentioned on this site!!!!! WHERE'S THE PRIVACY MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There are millions of files kept in Brooklyn, NY, that mention every specific detail of that person's life. Whether if they commit adultery, have an alcohol problem, too material in this life or quite simply might have a "bad attitude."
I can't understand why people on this Jehovah's Witness site don't think that's important as much as I do. This, pedophilia, and the culture of fear (mind control brainwashing comes to mind here) if you "fall away" are the worse things. If you decided that you got tired of going door-to-door, nagged at by Elders to "do more," going to 3 meetings per week and shunning people -- you should be able to leave quietly like they think they have that policy!
To summarise these are the worse things they do:
Protect pedophiles -- suprising how Raymond Franz doesn't talk about this in his book!
Demand too much of you -- 3 meetings per week/witnessing at least 2 hours per week. Their doctrines would not be so bad with people, if they gave people a break and let them decide how they want to talk about or advertise the good news!
Record keeping -- mind your business!! At least Raymond exposes them in his book! (Mentioned in first paragraph above.)
Shunning and not letting people "walk away quietly." (Even though they deny this, so another thing wrong with them is lying which brings me to the next point...) ...Family members shunning those who are not J dubs
Lying - they lie in many different ways, but one good example of their lies in the "Last Days When" book by Carl Johnson points out they lie about the number killed in earthquakes, famines, tsunamis in eras before 1914 and make out it's worse now. I would put under this category -- not willing to face up to false doctrines like 1914 being the end of the world. But I don't see why they should have to give up their doctrines because mainstream Christianity are quite stubborn with their doctrines and refuse to see what's wrong with theirs like the trinity for example. But the below paragraph for this point explains more of what I am saying.
To me, it's not doctrines at all because you should be able to reject it and move on with your life without having any labels attached or being shunned!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They can believe what they like, but the points listed above presents a dilemma in our lives if we choose not to abide by them. :( It's a catch 22 situation. Do we leave the pirate ship and take a little skiff to sail to the shore and be threatened to have cannon balls knock us out of the waters? Or do we take orders from the captain and become slaves to this evil pirating activity waiting for the next time to do battle again? It makes me feel hurt the people who are still in their on this site who are afraid to leave because they don't want to be cut off from their families!!!!!!!!!! :(
