But on this pyramid we can see the "crown and cross" which is a 33rd level masonic symbol, the Egyptian bird of Ra, and the all seeing eye, they are all masonic symbols.

hmm.. I think I'm going to put a bunch of Masonic symbolism on my tombstone so everyone will think I was secretly a Mason too...

On the pyramid in the cemetary: the quotes above do not say that Russell ordered the pyramid to be built, only that he thought a fitting symbol. Who instructed it to be built? Rutherford? There is no mention of a pyramid in Russell's funeral instructions.

On the murder story: even assuming that Russell had been poisoned before, that does not necessarily prove that he died by poisoning. How did the writer of that murder story possibly know he was murdered? He does not know who committed the crime, or there is no mention of what poison was used. There is a lack of specific details other than what can be found alfready in Menta Sturgeon's account.

On his being a drug addict: it first has to established that he took a drug that was addictive.

On his being a Mason: Russell himself said "...I have never been a Mason."

Stev, now trying to clear up the Rose story: Mary Russell said the adulterous affair occured in 1894. Are you saying that there was another incident, that Russell also touched her up when she was a child?

I also don't feel it's right to assume that someone would put the pyramid there if it wasn't the pre death wish of the interred person.

Daystar anyone can use masonic symbols for a laugh but usually it is done for a reason. Or did Russell love them so much and had them put on his grave? It's hard to imagine a non mason using three masonic symbols at his grave site.

Not really. Non-Masons have been known to regularly steal Masonic symbolism and use it for their own purposes. Aleister Crowley, for example, was never accepted as a Mason. But his order, the O.T.O., is chock-full of Masonic symbolism in its rituals and trappings.

If I were to plan what an ideal gravestone might look like for me, there would be a lot on it. Much of it might be viewed as Masonic in nature. I am not a Mason.

But really, this is just your opinion, is it not?

The OTO was a masonic offshoot so it's not surprising if they used a lot of masonic symbols. Crowley was thoroughly immersed in the occult.

Personally I've never heard of non masons or non mason related persons having masonic symbols by their graves.

I think I see what you're getting at now. I don't think we exactly disagree.

Of all of these "rumors", the Rose Ball story is the only one that I suspect that there are more clues left to be discovered that will reveal what actually happened. Russell sued a Washington newspaper twice over the "jellyfish" story, which Maria claimed that Rose told her that he said, and Russell won the suit both times. I would be interested in reading what was said during the court case. And I understand Barbara Anderson is writing on the Russells, and I hope that she will have more details about this.

Maria's Rose Ball story, if true, could lead the charge of sexual harassment, minister sexual abuse, a mutual affair, or a flirtation. The implications of the story could be serious, and Maria would surely have known that, and might have surmised that this would be enough to destroy his ministry. I question her fairness then in telling the story in court and NOT making it a part of her suit. Maria about 1903, I believe, had publicly written her grievances against her, at that time, present husband, which was distributed publicly. A Bible Student on the internet had a zip file of this that I downloaded, and Maria failed to mention the Rose Ball story at that time, and I wonder how she could fail to mention this when she was willing to mention her other grievances. When she filed for suit in 1903 she did not begin her complaint in 1894 with the Rose Ball story, but in 1897. It appears that she mentioned it for the first time in court in 1906. Maria was morally outraged at her husband's wrongdoings toward her, was willing to air publicly her grievances against him as a husband to discredit his ministry. However, the most damaging piece of evidence against him and the most morally outrageous to her as a wife - his unfaithfulness to her - she neglected to mention until 12 years later in 1906, nor did she make it a part of her suit, and it was stricken from the records. To me this undermines the credibility of her story. However, Charles's story does not make sense either. I don't know who is telling the truth.

Yes, Charles admitted that Rose Ball kissed him, but he placed the event shortly after she arrived, which would have been around 1888 or 1889, when she was about 19. Then she kissed them both for several years. Maria's story occurred in 1894, when she would have been 24.

According to Lady Lee's first post she said that the Russellites say that Charley's father was a Mason? Anyone know where that info is documented?

If that was the case, it certainly seems logical that could have been his basis for interest in the pyramids. The Knights Templar organization connects pyramidology to their rites. There is Knights Templar artwork that dates back to the 1600's (?) I believe, that shows a pyramid, showing that this was something they considered important. (They used the all-seeing eye, winged disc, cross/crown, etc.)

Where else would he have got this idea??? Would you just pull something like that out of thin air? There has to be a REASON behind why he was so interested in it and he made several trips to Egypt to study them!!! Is the word pyramid even in the Bible? I can't think of anywhere in there it's mentioned, so why would he study this subject?

Another theory is: He could have been a Knights Templar, but there is no known documentation for this found so far. So we can't put that on the facts sheet yet.

He used the cross/crown, pyramids, all seeing eye, watchtower, wreath emblem (forget what that is called), winged disc, and the list goes on...I would think that we could probably come up with at least 50 similarities with some form of Masonry. Some will look at like the glass is half-full, while others see it as half-empty.

At the end of the day it's the word of one against the other, did Maria make up all those stories with her lawyer and then lied under oath?

Russell played foul when he claimed that he was a very poor man because he had given all he had for the society. The court didn't get fooled by this, he had a 57% stake in the org and drew income out of it.

Also Maria claimed that every night Russell kept Rose at work after everyone left and never allowed anyone to walk her home, they returned together. That is suspicious and could easily be checked out with those working there.
