You don't realize how much of a burden it is to be a JW until you let it go. I have to go along with others' comments about the leftover baggage though. Anger, regret/guilt.....it surfaces pretty easily for me when I think of 20+ years enslaved and wasted.

Yes, being a JW is a burden.

There was an improvement from the start as a more natural life became possible no wasting of time and effort for meetings and preaching and no unnatural restrictions in life. Then with the internet many doubts were cleared up and all sense of connection with the org was broken.

Being a Jehovah's Witness truly is a waste of time.

Everyone I've seen that leaves the Witnesses or gets kicked out looks happier----except for those that are estranged from their families. I believe that is the ONLY thing the Society has to keep people in line.
