A very large part of me would like to strangle you and your cousin for such lack of compassion, except... I understand what it was like to be a JW and can't say that I might not have turned as blind an eye to it as you did.
The story makes me furious, as does any where the children are treated in such a manner. So many of them end up feral and never lead lives anything akin to normal.
An entire 4 generations of my clan since 1951 was kept 'pioneer poor' we sacrificed everything for the 'thrilling never to be repeated ministry'.

Es - too am speechless that we let that tiny boy suffer and turned a blind eye. What for? For nothing but worthless bible study time. It beggars belief.
daystar - What can I say. But it does make me realise how the mind numbing that goes on to make you be a JW actually numbs your sense in how you act. I can think of many occassions where I just didn't behave normally or properly as someone would have who had not been brainwashed from the cradle. Glad not to be like that anymore.
Danny - Four generations of your family lost to the WTBTS. And that is why 'The Tower Must Fall!' Too many people have suffered the same experiences and it's time for enough to be enough.
likewise Gill, I agee we all did or said, or neglected to do many things that we should have done when we members of the borg. I'm not about excusing our neglect or our mistakes, but at least we've come a million miles since then, and can try to make it up in other ways:) x
