My dad, a well respected elder would not do business with jws. He had tried several times and each time was screwed over....and then there was no recourse because you can't take em to court... So, his policy became never to do business with them in the first place.

I was in business briefly with my now (x)SIL...wasn't the best..

I rent Rug Doctor's here. I prefer them. The Witnesses do a good job keeping them running.

I don't know about other areas, but I have access to all the court cases in this state online. I can punch in someone's name and see if they have a pattern of not paying their bills (small claims court).

Just for grins, I punched in a few people's names at the KH and was shocked to see that some have been delinquent in paying bills for years.

So when doing business with someone, JW or not, check carefully into their business past. If you find that they are not a good risk, decline, JW or not.

This is somewhat OT, but a JW friend of mine for many years rented a three bedroom house in town. She would get room mates to help with the rent, and there were plenty of single JW women over the years who wanted to room with her, but she wouldn't even consider it (at least when I knew her). She said they were much worse than "worldly" women.

I've loaned money that I could ill afford to a JW friend too. It's been about 5 years. I think its pretty safe to say that I will never see my money again. I used to think her conscience would bother her and that she'd eventually pay me back. Like maybe she could forego one of her little vacations in order to pay her debt. Guess not. She probably thinks taking my money was a provision from Jehoover.

There are witnesses that are honorable, do good work and do pay their debts, but they are in the minority from what I've seen.

Mr Scully used to tell JWs that he felt it was a conflict of interest to do work for the Brothers™,

I like that one... very good idea!

My husband who has never been a JW worked for the IKON Office Solutions company in Washington state. There was 3 JW men who worked for them, and he said they were laziest people he had ever met and based on that had a poor opinion of JW because of it. He said they did their job badly and goofed off most the time. When they got in bind because of their poor work they would call him to assist he would tell them do it themselves. He could not stand these men then they had the gall to act superior to everyone spouting their religious beliefs at the drop of a hat.

No we would never do business with active JW period. All the 30 years I was a JW I found about 50% were lousy workers. I had a business of doing clothing alterations for the public. I had a good reputation and would never have invited a JW to work with me because of their attitudes toward worldly people. I came from the world and I felt much different than most. They were my livelyhood. Hey Garybuss, Rug Doctor is it still owned by that JW guy? I thought he sold it off. My ex-husband who is a JW still works for them, but most everyone who works for the company nowdays are worldly people. Rug Doctor Rug cleaners are good though.

I would never do business with any of the witnesses that I know. If I don't know that person is a witness, or if I do know but I don't know that particular person, then I probably would cautiously proceed. I wouldn't hesitate to bring action against them if there are any contract breaches or if I get screwed with in any way. It pays to be proactive as well and I would do as much research as possible ahead of time.

I consider ALL I knew as witnesses friends. I like doing buisness with them. I traded lots of things on my house with them and enjoyed that I could talk to them. All trades went smooth.

We went to a restaurant a few months ago that had been one of our favorites. ; It was under new management this last time, and it was just deplorable.

The serving sizes were smaller, the prices were higher, and they used processed cheese slices on ;the cheese and mushroom omelette instead of real cheese. Mr Scully said we should write a letter and complain, so when we went to pay, we picked up the business card of the new manager. It was a JW we knew.

Mr Brother CheapA$$ isn't getting our business anymore.

And thanks to the wonders of mass local advertising, I have just learned that Brother Cheap@$$ is keeping his restaurant open on a Statutory Holiday. 8am - 8pm. Christmas Day. FFS. Will he put tracts out with the menus too? I am thinking about reporting this establishment to the Ministry of Labour.

I have met many witnesses who are a business owners, and many are far from ethical. Some will take advantage simply because they know they can.

Overall, I want to do business with someone I can trust. If they are a witness, fine. If they are not, then I will go elsewhere.
