We had maybe four when I was about 10-14 after my parents split up, but I always felt guilty.
This will be my first one where I have no reservations...how about you?

This will be my third Christmas since leaving the cult. It's nice that I can get together with my family again to celebrate.

mmm..... eggnog
Eggnog is fine, but COQUITO(kokeeto) is better! Is what we do in Puerto Rico... Give it a try these holidays. Here's one of the many recipes:

Last year I persuaded the hubby (and please; no comments because I like the term "hubby"...TY very much) to put up lights outside all over our front trees and bushes. Added a lighted little tree and a lighted snowman. Put lights and "greenery" on the back deck, which was quite festive.
BUT...as much as I would like a real x-mas tree in our livingroom...Gary isn't much for that idea (and we don't have much room anyway for a tree unless it's one of those itsy bitsy things...you've seen how small our house is wander)!
We don't do presents or anything...too much trouble and expense.
So far none of the elders have called us in for the x-mas lights outside; and I know they drive by often (we're on a main road in Point).
The lights just cheer me up so much...I consider this more of a "solstice" thing than celebrating the birth of Jesus.
Big hug...cathy l.
I am going all out for Christmas this year! First one I will really celebrate, although I did in tiny bits before when I was one of Jehovah's Witnesses. I love Christmas time. I was 17 before I became one of Jehovah's Witnesses so I quite remember what a happy time it was for me and I am ready to do it again (as long as my money holds out).
It's my first Christmas too! I've specified that the only gift I want (from the only person who will give one) is a donation to an aid organisation. I've put up fairy lights, but that's because we're not allowed to have candles (between the landlord and the allergy issues). Don't want to do the tree, but I'm making that Coquito recipe! Cha cha cha....
