HELP Needed in custody case!

  Hello,

  I received a letter last night (as many of you did) about a particular
  custody battle being fought by a poster on this board.

  She just found out that she lost custody of her 3 children to her JW ex, despite the fact that they are in danger of being exposed to a pedophile relative through this man.

  I am asking anyone who may know anything about setting up a legal defense fund (or anyone who knows about Utah custudy law/ lawyers in Utah) to please respond to this post. Time is of the essence, the girls have already gone back to their father today. Please help these little lambs if you can.

  I have a question. Why did the mother loose custody? Usually, the mother gets custody. Just on the face of it, this looks like an uphill battle.

  I agree with larc, there has to be a reason why the mother lost custody. I am sure the 3 children are loved by the father as well as the mom. If it is common knowledge that the fathers relative is a pedophile, then the father will likely make sure his children are not around that relative. If the father has no knowledge of the pedophile, then he should be warned.

  Hi larc,

  The mother lost custody because as usual, the JW spouse used all kinds of manipulation in court. Remember the Barry case, guys! Of course there is too much to get into here on the board. I don't want to give away too much personal information about this person, I'd rather let her do it herself, if she chooses.

  All I'm asking is if anyone knows anything about custody law in Utah, etc, please let me know and I will put them in touch with the family.

  What "manipulation" If the judge took the child AWAY from the mother that is a big warning sign for me since they don't usually do that unless their hand is forced.

  Surely there is hardly anyone on this board more qualified to give advice or recommend resources than him, I have personally seenhim in action. More personal details will have to be given in order for help to be given and return, and so this forum really isn't the best case if anonymity is desired.

  So in my case, I will defer to Silentlambs.

  If the mother lost custody due to religious shenigans on the part of the JW parent then tell her to contact me and I can provide some assistance.

  Es, I'll be glad to help you, but it will take a few days to some phone numbers you will need. There are some folks who regularly go up against JW Legal, especially when Legal is involved or has advised other attorneys who also love to throw their weight around just like Watchtower does. Legal invariably backs off, even settling out of court when this occurs.

  Will drop you a note in a few days. Hopefully you won't need the info. (Long time since I first wrote, eh? It's all come to pass.)

  Thanks so much for your interest. I will pass your e mail address on to the family. My health is not well right now and so I am very limited in how much I can actually do. I know that the mother will appreciate any information/advice you can give.

  Maximus, my dear! I was going through old e mails and saw your original letter to me so long ago and smiled, thinking about all that has come to pass. You are a gem, my friend. If you contact me I will forward the info to the family, for the same reasons I stated above.
  My health limits so much what I would like to do.

  To everyone else: this mother IS a silentlamb. The father is brainwashing the children to turn against her, in true JW fashion. Good news is we just found out that there was a hitch in his actually getting the kids today: He did not meet certain conditions that the court set.

  If she loses custody of these girls, they will be routinely exposed to the same member of the family who abused her. The ex husband will allow access. Its a nightmare.
