I'm staying with my brother, he has a great library of the publications, as does my dad.
What should I look for besides the Jan 1 1989 WT and corresponding bound volume?
Thanks!

wanderlust; what exactly are you looking for? Check out the link "food at the proper time" link on randy's www.freeminds.org website and you can find some references on some doctrinal flip flops; someone had a great one posted the other day
Could you steal any of the really old books? Do they even have any of those? They'd be a hoot to look through and laugh at all the idiotic things they printed and then when you've had your fun you could sell them on ebay and make some good money!
If you want old light, that is one thing. What you are talking about is where the WTS changed the wording in a publication from the original first printing to something else in later printings.
For example, 1874 to 1914 presence of Christ in old light to new (sic)
But rather, changes in wordings in Studies in the Scriptures based on the publication date.

Yep, that's what I wanted! Thanks!
Out with the old, and in with the new!

Okay, seriously, here's one that I want to get a hard copy of.....
AW 69 May 22 pg. 15
It's about education and how you don't need to go to college because the end is coming "in a few years."
Or blondie : maybe you have that one already?
My WT cd-rom doesn't go back that far and I can't print off a hard copy of it......
Of course, there is always out with the new and back to the old
For example,
Superior authorities
till 1929, secular governments
1929 to 1962, God and Jesus
1962 to next change, secular governments
Transplants
till 1967, conscience matter
1967-1980, disfellowshipping offense
1980 to next change, conscience matter
Resurrection of people destroyed at Sodom and Gomorrah
In and out of Gehenna several times, currently in
Quotes to look for,
Deletion of 1975 quotes from outside sources in the Truth book

Also the WTS will stop talking about a doctrine, never having an article clarifying the point such as how long a creative day is,
Old light, 7,000 literal days

Paradise Restored book chap. 1 p. 18 Our Basis for Hope in Its Restoration ***Rather, how glad we can be that Almighty God, the Theocratic Owner of the whole earth, is unchanging in his purpose to have a Paradise on this earth, not just over there in the neighborhood of the headwaters of the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, but in all four quarters of the earth! If it is his purpose to have this beautification of the whole earth accomplished by the end of his seventh creative day—Scripturally a period of seven thousand years, then the time is near at hand for the ruining of the earth by exploiters to be stopped by theocratic power and for the blessed transformation to a delightsome garden to begin. Already, nearly six thousand years of man’s existence from the close of the sixth creative day have run their dreary course
Until 1987

w87 1/1 p. 30 Questions From Readers ***Second, a study of the fulfillment of Bible prophecy and of our location in the stream of time strongly indicate that each of the creative days (Genesis, chapter 1) is 7,000 years long. It is understood that Christ’s reign of a thousand years will bring to a close God’s 7,000-year ‘rest day,’ the last ‘day’ of the creative week. (Revelation 20:6; Genesis 2:2, 3) Based on this reasoning, the entire creative week would be 49,000 years long.
Current quotes, several thousands of years long
Then starting in 1988 without any fanfare
*** it-1 (1988) p. 545 Creation ***
And, since the seventh day has been continuing for thousands of years, it may reasonably be concluded that each of the six creative periods, or days, was at least thousands of years in length.
*** w96 4/1 p. 13 Praise the King of Eternity! ***
Wonderful developments took place on earth during the six creative "days" of Genesis chapter 1, each day covering thousands of years.
freedomlover....That one article may be the reason why the CD-ROM does not go back that far (unlike the Watchtowers). It's a pretty damning article.
wanderlustguy...In addition to that article, you might want to read the "A Time to 'Life Up Your Head' in Confident Hope" article in the 8 October 1968 Awake! (p. 23). There they say that people who in the past "announced a specific date" for the end of the world were "guilty of false prophesying" and that "missing from such people were God's truths and the evidence that he was guiding and using them." Exceedingly ironic in view of the "1975 date" that was presently being hyped by the Society (in addition to the "generation" teaching), and their claim to be the "truth" and "guided and used" by God.
It might be fun to see the original xerox of the article comparing girls to cows in the 15 December 1961 Watchtower.
And, of course, anything of the Golden Age would be amazing to see, if the library at all goes back that far...
