Here is another fun thing to look out for. Try to find a loose issue of the 15 September 1982 Watchtower. The cover illustration was ripped off from a Johnnie Walker liquor ad!! When this fact was discovered, the issue was given a new cover illustration in the 1982 bound volume.

freedomlover....No, I do not have that particular article in hard copy, nor have I seen a xerox of it. This is the article that says "face the fact that you will never grow old in this system of things ... you will never fulfill any career that this system offers ... it will be well on the way to its finish [in five or six years], if not actually gone". However, I have just found a very similar article in the June 1969 Kingdom Ministry (p. 3), which interestingly enough is not mentioned on Quotes, not anywhere else I've seen online, and of course the WT CD-ROM has KM issues only as far as 1970, conveniently omitting this article as well. This article says that "in view of the short time left, a decision to pursue a career in this system of things is not only unwise but extremely dangerous ... Many young brothers and sisters were offered scholarships or employment that promised fine pay. However, they turned them down and put spiritual interests first". Here is the clipping I have of this article:

It would be great to have a full-page xerox of this article to see the quote in its full context. I have a complete collection of Kingdom Ministries from 1971-1974, but nothing that early.

There's a "Question from the Readers" on why the Society doesn't put out a children's bible story book. It's not a very important point, but rather fun to read their pompous and adamant reasons on why it wouldn't be a proper thing to do. I have a photocopy of it somewhere. I can't remember the date off hand, though.

If you are a young person, you also need to face the fact that you will never grow old in this present system of things. Why not? Because all the evidence in fulfillment of Bible prophecy indicates that this corrupt system is due to end in a few years. Of the generation that observed the beginning of the "last days" in 1914, Jesus foretold: "This generation will by no means pass away until all these things occur."

Therefore, as a young person, you will never fulfill any career that this system offers. If you are in high school and thinking about a college education, it means at least four, perhaps even six or eight more years to graduate into a specialized career. But where will this system of things be by that time? It will be well on the way toward its finish, if not actually gone!

If anyone is interested in a photocopy of the article, please PM me and I will send one off to you.
