Finally free makes a good point. Sometimes we just need companionship, rather than friendship in the taditional sense. I have a talking bird too, he can be a great pal, specially when I feel like I don't WANT to be around people! Makes me laugh too. And his incessant noise often drives me out of the house to more productive things.

MsMcDucket, life does become easier when count your blessings and get out of the house to any of the suggestions here.....but leave your own baggage at home!

PEOPLE, PEOPLE WHO NEED PEOPLE, ARE THE LUCKIEST PEOPLE IN THE WORLD!!!!

The best way to get out of a funk is to be around good, loving, happy, smart, laughing, humorous, rich hearted people!!!!!

And the good thing is........THEY ARE EVERYWHERE!!!!

At my church we have a women's group and right now we're having bible studies centered around a few books. Other activities associated with the women's group has been shopping trips, retreats, girl's night out, game and movie night, and crafts night. It's been alot of fun.

My new mother in law joined a community choir a month ago.
(Oh yeah I thought...community anything is volunteer and they let anybody and everybody in and they are usually lousy)

    WRONG!!!!!!

I just went last Saturday to hear them sing! OMG was I shocked and stunned and touched in the heart by what I heard!!! (At first I suspected they were all lip-sinking or something) How disbelieving I've become!

The music was AWESOME!!! I thought how glad I was for my MIL to find this group. She had expressed loneliness and a desire to be with fun people.

BINGO MOM! You found it alright!

They are putting on another performance this Sunday and I will be there!

Between two jobs, serving on two state wide fisheries committees, up keep on home and two rental units, study groups on Friday nights and intertaining once or twice a month, only limited time for JWD. Oh, forgot my consulting activities for non-profit company from central Calif. to northern Alaska... still have time for an apostafest once or twice a year....

These pop-ups by Google or whomever are a trip! Do they base it on the topic or keywords in the text? I'm thinking content of the text. Has anyone ever clicked on them?

These are the ones that popped-up on this thread:

I remember the time when Google was Ad free.

Well, I made it through my 12 hour shift at work. The last two times/days that I went to work, I had a patient die. I had to call the family and stuff. That's always hard for me, I never know what to say to them. Last night, one of the major O2 tanks went out. I had to get a portable O2 tank and help bag one patient. I ended up going out with the respiratory therapist to the area where the O2 tanks are stored and while someone talked us through it over the telephone, we switched the tanks. I kept thinking there was a great possibility that I could get my face blowed off!

Man! I'm tired! Talk to you after I get my beauty rest.

I don't even know if I can handle having friends now. I can barely make it to work.

I hope this is because you work such long hours and it's physically/emotionally draining, rather than depression.

I too go through phases where I'm restless....wanting to seize the day and all. I do what Kaylen does, just try to keep busy. I love watching tv but I find if I just do that for hours on end, I feel lazy/empty/etc. I've taken up some crafts and began doing artwork again. Some of it's corny but it keeps me busy. I cook a lot too, trying unusual foods to keep myself interested.

Sometimes I'll take myself out for a cappuccino if I'm bored/lonely. Never underestimate the power of drinking a good cup of cappuccino and reading a good book for a while in the coffee house.

Then there's always a good bath, which goes well with a glass of wine. It would be perfect if you could combine it with the cappuccino/book/coffee house instead. Too bad there are no cappuccino bath houses. Now that would really be something!
