Pioneer Sisters & Field Service

Some of you sisters were so adept at going out in service, that it seemed as if you really didn't need a brother, who was willing to take the lead. Many of you were already well suited in marking out and mapping out the territory, and sometimes BIG BROTHER such and such, who just happened to be newly baptised, but is now in a position to serve shows up and begins to make himself feel useful. I mean, this is how the climbing up the ladder begins for us brothers, isn't it?

Were brothers really necessary, did you feel as if we were performing our duties effectively, or were we just getting in the way? Did we appear sincere in taking responsibility for our service to Jehovah, or were we just there to fulfill our need to be in control of something? Did you appreciate having a brother who would direct the sisters, especially during the early morning mid-week times, when most others were out fulfilling their 9 to 5's?

One of da sistas put me in my place about a month after I was baptised. She said, "I will go with any car group I want to because while you were still sh**ting yellow I was serving Jehover".

As a pioneer...I lead the group plenty of times. How hard is it to cover your head, read the text and say a pray!

Whoever said, "A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle" was answering your question! For a newly baptised 14 or 15 year old male to be put in charge just because of their dangly parts was pretty insulting, really, when most of the "sisters" were much older. But even when they were older, to assume they would be better at it somehow because they were male was pretty ludicrous.

There are many women who are adept at project management, and in fact manage men as part of their jobs (employment). Going out in service was a no brainer. Anyone could have done it. I don't mind working as a team, I have no problems with either gender, but this whole question harkens back to the male superiority headship premise which is a load of bovine excrement, IMO.

If he was a normal, thinking human being then it was good to have another able-bodied hand on deck. But if he was a typical male JW, then he was just an ineffective nuisance. Actually, the gender didn't make any difference to me. It was the attitude. An idiot is an idiot, male or female.

I have to say that I never felt inconvienced by the lack of male headship. I don't recall anyone else missing it either. In fact, one month that I pioneered I didn't even have a "field service meeting" to go to. Nor did I have a car group to join. Just me, on foot, with my book bag.

Oh, I didn't mind because I was 19 in a congregation FULL of young bucks eligible brothers. See, I was on the HUNT and didn't mind batting my eyes and looking like I needed someone to lead me around like I was helpless.

I even let one of them drive my car. But then his none baptized girlfriend got jealous and beat me up. She was upset that he was spending so much time out in field service with me. Well, he WAS auxilary pioneering that month. How was he supposed to get his time in? Making out with her?!

Anyway, I'm rambling. No, I didn't mind but I was young and dumb.

I remember once when i was 11 years old. i had just gotten baptized and We were waiting for a brother to arrive.

So this sister got up to do the daily text, she was really old and had been baptized in 1955

. Anyway, she was just about to sit down when this other sister pointed at me and stated "Wait, he's baptized. You aren't supposed to do that, Jehovah's spirt and angels wont be with us if you do". So anyway, i went ahead and did it. It felt good and embarrasing at the same time.

I'll never forget how their smiles seemed to mock me though.

This one used to really get to me! I felt it was really insulting. Especially when they were hopeless at taking the group. Experience has taught me some guys have zero organisational skills and zero common sense.

But eventually I used to care less. So I'd be as disagreeable as possible and make their job harder for them. Like turning up late to the field service territory, or hanging around on the street chatting to my friend instead of knocking on doors. You could see these young guys just wanting to tell me off but not knowing how to do it.... he he he....

Vengence is mine sayeth the Miss Peaches!

Sisters used to do that to my brother and I.

They call it the "Pioneer Strut" here, AKA "we'll slack off cause we're trying to make this block last as long as possible".

My brother and I soon learned how to quickly and efficiently complete blocks on our own.

    Hi Gretchen 956

"A man needs a woman like a leaf needs a tree." That's the truth. I'd be dead or in jail if it weren't for my marvelous wife.

    Yours NOT in Joe Hovah,
    Nate
