The more I contemplate the universe and a supposed God who made it all the more I wonder why he is so concerned about whether someone worships him or not. What possible difference would it make to his life? Since he hasn't visited here in thousands of years it seems he really doesn't care.

LB, in my humble opinion.. when a person who is close to you leaves the org. the least likely way to get them to come back is to shun them, but that is what usually happens.

I'm hoping that you will continue to love your brother, and associate with him, IRREGARDLESS of his choice of religion. He is still your flesh and blood. |

I left once and went back. The reason I went back was because I was in a very week emotional state. My grandfather had just died, no job, no car, no friends and a long away from my 7 year old daugter. I had family calling me and guilting me.... "Don't you want to see your grandfather in the New Order".
I was reinstated and was in for about 2 years.
What the problem is, is that once you can look at the Organization and it's teachings from the outside, you can truly see the truth. How in the world can you believe you have the truth when have been in it and never in something else to compare it to.
You say the UN thing is no big deal, well, did you know that if you join the YMCA just to use the gym you will be considered "apostate" and disfellowshipped?

I am sorry for your broken family- I hope the rules change and you can speak to him again soon. I suspect that doubts already existed in your subconscious mind. In the end when we all have to account for our life before G-d the only thing that matters is that we believed and followed what our personal life experience told us was true- not what a group of isolated elderly men have hammered into your mind with that constant barrage of 5 meetings each week. Take a 30 day sabbatical from meetings - a vacation,if you will. When you come back it will all be clear to you.

Great topic. I often wish the same. The Organization is in trouble. I am thoroughly convinced that in Jehovahs great mercy and Jesus righteous Judgement much mercy will be shown during the Ressurrection.

Please consider that the main reason you do most of the things you do as a JW (including not speaking to one who has left) is because there are about a dozen men in Brooklyn demanding that you obey their rules. They claim special authority ; that they were appointed by God as the Faithful & Discreet Slave. In fact , there is NO basis or proof for this claim. Only the constant repitition that it is true. There is plenty of proof offered on this board that even if that parable was to have a fulfillment, it would not be until 'the day and hour' that Jesus spoke of in Mt 24. Please read it in context. It is not Jehovah who is telling family members to split. It is this group of men who have appointed themselves as your master. Even if they were the F&D 'slave', have you ever heard of a slave demanding obedience to his rules?
I've been where you are. And my mother said to me---'I can't believe you are questioning Jehovah'. It is the Governing Body I question. Not the same thing.

Sorry to hear about your family, but I think you should respect and accept your brother decision. Try not to control him with the fear of Jehovah God. I have learn to live with the good and the bad and not pushing my faith on someone else, I do believe in God and Jesus but I will not step afoot in a Kingdum Hall again.
