    hi all

i've been reading many of the posts on the site for the last few weeks. i wasn't looking for a JW site but came across it by chance on a google search for Australian music, when one of Tijkmo's posts came up. my eyes nearly popped out of my head when i saw the JW chat!!!

I was brought up a witness, but faded away when i was 21. (24 years ago) the whole family moved across the world, and it was going to be a new start. Elder dad had resigned before the move due to him being sickened by hypocrisy. my parents eventually got sucked back in along with one of the five of us kids.

Anyway I have never seen the Dateline programme. I did an internet search and looked on emule to see if i could download it but .....no. can anyone tell me if i can get this anywhere.

I also told my parents about the UN debacle(this afternoon), and they just outright denied it. "not true, lies being spread by apostates" Can any Australians give me something to help this way? I thought of asking the society via the website, but when I went on they don't answer emails, and want full contact details........very clever.........as if!! Dad also laughed when I mentioned about the paedophilia, in particular Leo Greenlees, - "the society would have disfellowshipped him if that was true, it's all lies to discredit the truth"

You know I thought I had got over this a long time ago, but it's all churned up again. My parents have been very Cool towards us (and I don't mean in a good way) - "icy" at times, but have never shunned us. but they have been getting more fanatical recently.

    Any suggestions?

You can go to the www.un.org site yourself and search "Jehovah" and it will pull up the association / NGO issue. Also, posted here is a letter certain ones have gotten as a reply from the WTBS.

Good morning, and welcome to the board. There will be lots of people that will help you find what youu are looking for on this forum, as soon as they "wake up", as it is only 6:30 a.m. on the East Coast of the U.S, right now. Stick around, and check back in once in a while. In the mean time, check out www.jwfiles.com or look for "quotes" posts in the forum, for info on dateline, also "bbc program called "Panorama", I think. there are a lot of Aussie's that can help you with this, too, that are ex-j.w.'s and are on this forum. Ozziepost, Ellie, es, and many more I can't think of off hand. They'll be around soon.

Hi Deeskis. It sounds like you and I have similar backgrounds. I was raised a JW and left when I was about twenty-four (twenty-six years ago). I didn’t fade away; I let them know in no uncertain terms that I no longer wanted to be considered a JW, for which they Df’d me of course. After I left, a few years later I went through the whole "got saved" thing, and I spent endless hours trying to get my JW to open her eyes and look at the Watchtower Society for what it really was. But I never accomplished a thing and only wound up alienating her and even made her more dedicated to her "truth". I don’t know if you’re looking for advice, but if I were to give you the benefit of my experience, it would be to leave it alone. I don’t think you’ll change them, or teach them anything. After all, you’re the child and they’re the parents and that puts you at a (teaching) disadvantage, even though you are the age you are. The dynamics of the parent –child relationship never really changes, I don’t think. I wouldn’t ever even mention the Watchtower Society to them, if it were I. Oh well, this just my opinion of course. Good luck!

    G'day deeskis and welcome aboard!

Here are some links that may prove useful:

This is the newspaper article that blew the WT's involvement wide open, written by the Guardian's religious affairs editor Stephen bates (who also posted on JWD): http://www.guardian.co.uk/religion/Story/0,,565199,00.html

The following week he followed up with this expose: http://www.guardian.co.uk/religion/Story/0,,574175,00.html

Here is one of Stephen's posts: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/11/13366/160422/post.ashx#160422

On another topic, you may also be interested in this year's "Sunday" program on the Nine network; http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/11/103353/1.ashx

I hope these are useful to you. Good luck!

Let us know how it goes.

    Cheers, Ozzie
