How to (or not) handle the occasional JW who wanders in here

Absolutely right we should be polite so as not to scare them off, after all they are themselves victims.

Actually that is really funny. I have always been the same way.

I usually beat them up pretty good when they show up here. Here is my latest victim: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/100319/1729274/post.ashx#1729274

But then after seeing about 40 or 50 of these doofus' coming through here, I noticed that everyonce in awhile some total rookie manages to get somebody out. The truth of the matter, is that sometimes the jw is dating them because they are already having doubts. All the rookie has to do is give them a little nudge.

So recently we got another one, and instead I posted this. (actually this is a repost that Lady Lee asked me to do for the best of section) I didn't pull any punches, I let her know how hard this all is. But who knows. Maybe she can do some good.

    CYP-

You forgot something in your best of article.

If you are considering being in a commited relationship with a practicing JW or a non-practicing JW who still believes in the WTS ...

Get a grenade and pull the pin it will be less painful.

    Not that I am bitter.....LOL!

what most former jw forget is that same treatment that one gets to become a jw is oftentime what is needed when one comes

in the 8yrs of being on thenet it has always been a pet peeve of mine- seeing a jw beaten up on just fo saying the Society is gods channel, etc, what the heck do you expect a jw who still beleive to say- DUHHHHHHHHHH-\

too many former jw become the poster child in behalf of the wt and don't even realize it- the wt has clearly told jw what an aposate acts like and sure enough they come here and the former jw is just like the wt poster child and Confirms everything that the wt said about us- foaming at the mouth, etc

in my exp Honey catches more flies, yes there are some who get it when they are slapped up side the head, but in my exp "Frontal attack" produices the lowest results

i have been able to help a number of folks get out and almost all of them told me if i had jumped on them with both feet they would have ran back to the Hall for safety

    just my 2

I've actually thought about this. There are a lot of doubtful ones that I would hesitate to refer to these boards for that very reason. That is also why sites like quotes are so valuable and damaging to the organization, because the message gets through the defenses.

When I first came here years ago I got so beat up and pissed on by so many it scared me away. I was a newly disf'ed witness who still felt loyal to the organization. Lord have mercy I thought Ex-JW's are a vicious bunch and left. I found a kinder spot on Channel C to express myself and gradually became deprogramed. I think these folks who wander in and want to talk should be handled with kid gloves, especially the JW's are still active.

    They need a kind word.

Those who aren't willing to use the approach you suggested should just refrain from talking to the JW visitors entirely, IMHO. To do otherwise is to intentionally and purposefully encourage the JW to have stronger faith in the WTS, a course of action that will undoubtedly do much harm to the JW and his/her family, children, friends, etc. To be purposefully harmful to others is....well I don't have words for how wrong that is.
