My town occupies two hills with a valley running through the middle. The valley contains the "downtown" area, but also has two main rail lines north and south for much of the freight and passengers going up and down the west coast of the US. Unfortunately, my town only has two streets that have overpasses across the rail lines, and those are at the far far edges of the city. So traffic is constantly backing up across town.
Here we're very close to Puget Sound, we have views of Mt. Rainier and the Olympic Mountains, as well as the Cascade mountains, so in any direction you can see snow covered mountains, very beautiful. Seeing snow up on the mountains from a distance is so picturesque. Seeing it underfoot is slightly more problematic. We're nearing a record for the most rainy days in succession since they started recording the weather, and we are consequently having mudslides all over the place.
My town is almost in the middle between a major city to the north and a smaller city to the south. The city to the north is best known for a couple things, one is a structure built for the 1962 world's fair, the others revolve around the music industry. Known as the home of Jimi Hendrix and Curt Cobain, (RIP)... The city to the south has a dome, which still rotates district assemblies through all summer long. That city is best known for its unpleasant odor and for the Chihuly Glass Museum.
I think I'll stop there!
