The original "sin city" when Las Vegas was little more than a train stop; a famous "divorce mecca" of the past when divorce was difficult to get elsewhere; "the biggest little city in the world," though not so little anymore; real estate prices rising faster than almost anywhere; growth out of control; casinos; July is Artown; Hot August Nights classic car show and '50's revival; September balloon races and air races; lots of parks, lots of transplanted Californians, almost everyone from someplace else.
I live in a city where across a river I can see a "Watchtower" sign and "Read the Bible Daily" and "Announcing Jehovah's Kingdom" painted on a side of a building... hee hee
Hey that sounds a lot like the city I live in too. Damn sign is an eyesore!
ohoh this thread's gonna turn into a BBQ war...Me...I like NC pork barbeque, Lexington style, though Eastern NC style is pretty good too
I'm partial to Texan BBQ............... *runs and ducks for cover*.
people say my city is boring and cold. (Thanks ozziepost.) its surrounded by mountains. We've been in a drought for about 3 years now. Ummmm what else? We have many well known buildings in our city. Mostly well known by other Aussies. Some would be well known by International people as well. One of the buildlings is a phallic symbol. LOL. true.
My town is a barrier island off of another island on the east coast of Florida. They launch rockets, and shuttles to space from here, and you can visit a real space center too. It`s also the home of the famous Ron Jon Surf shop, and some of the world`s top surfer`s are from here as well! We have one of the country`s busiest cruise ship ports in our backyard! It gets very hot during the summer, and we usually have 2-3 hurricanes to keep you on your toes!! But what can keep you here is the beautiful area, and a perfect beach to hang out at all summer long! One might call it paradise!!
I live in a city that is famous/infamous for the birthplace of a high control religion that treats those who become victims of other members of this religion as if they were lepers and pats the culprits on the back for doing all their nasty deeds. This religion was started by a haberdasher turned charlatan and has a pyramid at his gravesite.
On the lighter side........we have three rivers that meet at the point of the city and a great football team who will try to get "One For The Thumb" (fifth superbowl ring) this year.

I live near a city that's famous for a group of 'outlaws wearing tight's'.
It rains Summer, Winter, Spring and Fall.
If shopping is your thing, then it's the place to go - If you can't get it here, then it's probably not worth having!
It has a heaving nightlife, it's fair share of aggressive tramps, and highly aggressive boozers !
Everywhere you go there's a traffic Jam.
Fortunately though, if I head west, I'm only a 1/2 hours drive away from some of the most spectacular scenery in England.
Bull!
I live in a town with a population of about 150,000, 90 miles west of Chicago in Northern Illinois. It starts with an R and ends with a D. It is home to what have to be the most pompous assed jerks of witnesses ever assembled(excuse grammar).

P.s: My name is Nancy Nelson and I drive a motorized cart around 7th st. looking for people to preach to, and also people to terrorize with my Mrs. Gulch-like personality.
deh deh deh deh deh de....
Our town is recognized as a "village" and the last I checked the population was just about 700. We normally have pretty brutal winters...we are known as living in the "Snow Belt", and have hot and humid ( but short) summers.
The small city on one side used to house the Nestle's chocolate works and we could smell "the works" 10 miles from there on a humid day. That same city housed the huge Miller Brewery complex. Both have since shut down.
The city on the other side is the "Port City" and has quite a history of English/ French activity around Fort Ontario on the shoreline, and the more recent history of providing a place for the Jewish Holocaust refugees during WW2.
Nobody famous lived or died here (that I know of) but we DO have a lot of traffic on our main route going towards Rochester and Buffalo.....who knows who might have travelled through here! One of my favorite pastimes is to go down by the Harbor to watch the ships that are coming in, and to the Lock to see the yachts and pleasure boats heading out to go up the ST. Lawrence SeaWay.
The fishing is great, even little ole me caught a 22 lb salmon a few years ago, down by the Harbor.
Annie.....from upstate New York
So this is good old ******,
The home of the bean and the cod,
Where the Lowells talk only to the Cabots,
And the Cabots talk only to God."
Had a big tea party long ago... Cotton Mather lived here. Paul Revere rode his horse here. Traffic is almost always terrible. Lots of historic buildings, museums, great football & baseball teams and a very high cost of living.
