The truth didn't change PMJ. If the apostles didn't understand it correctly, that didn't mean that the truth itself changed. They didn't go around expecting people to follow them. They pointed people to Jesus, not themselves. The biggest problem with the society is that they demand that people follow the organization and its' changing teachings. The organization cannot give salvation, nor can they take it away. They do not have that kind of power...they just want you to think they do. In doing so, they mask truth, and attempt to have control over your relationship with God.

John 5:39 Jesus said "You keep searching the scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they that testify of Me, But you are not willing to me that you may have life. "

This is a great thread. The witnesses often make gross assertions and refuse to back them up with facts. They are most comfortable having others disprove a negative.

One of the first things most witnesses say when they find out you've left or are leaving the org. is just what PMJ said about the apostles making mistakes or the Israelites not knowing they whys and wherefores of everything they did.

You posters here have dispelled those arguments nicely time and time again.

PMJ, you got those two Scriptures from a little brown book your overlords told you to use. None of them had been given holy spirit yet. That is when Jesus told them they would understand, AFTER the helper arrived, and it is that anointment that John said they would be taught by. (1 John 2:26-29)

Why would the anointed need someone (i.e. the Governing Body) to teach them, if 1 John 2:26-29 means what it says?

Either cough up an instance after holy spirit being poured out, or admit there is no Scriptural basis.

That's what Catholics should say to the JWs at their door, when told that the mistakes of their church proved they were not following God. Why is it so one-sided, that only JWs can claim this? There is no reason anyone can find. If the point is true, Catholics are off the hook. If this comment isn't true, the WTS are ON the hook. bebu

bebu there is a little diffrence beetween the cathlics and the wittneses.so dont compare the two.the wittnesses may get things wrong at times but they stick to the high moral standards of the bible

PMJ, I know this has been asked of you before and you haven't really answered it - but why are you here? I see no purpose to it. You haven't been a good witness, saying nothing that would persuade me to go back. You've been judgemental and rude and your grammar is horrible. Why are you here?

You can stay if you want but I see no reason why unless you're fighting some serious doubts about the society.

I say again, they DID NOT HAVE holy spirit at the time they asked those questions. Now, if you are suggesting that the way the WTS does things clearly shows they do not have holy spirit, I readily agree.

If you suggest that they resemble the disciples prior to the receipt of holy spirit, I disagree on one major count: Prior to receiving holy spirit the disciples were ASKING QUESTIONS, not teaching; after receiving holy spirit they did not need someone to teach them, the helper was teaching them.

1 John 2:26-29 — These things I write YOU about those who are trying to mislead YOU. 27 And as for YOU, the anointing that YOU received from him remains in YOU, and YOU do not need anyone to be teaching YOU; but, as the anointing from him is teaching YOU about all things, and is true and is no lie, and just as it has taught YOU, remain in union with him. 28 So now, little children, remain in union with him, that when he is made manifest we may have freeness of speech and not be shamed away from him at his presence. 29 If YOU know that he is righteous, YOU gain the knowledge that everyone who practices righteousness has been born from him.

You have nothing to intelligently respond with because the WTS responses aren't intelligent ones. Sadly, those are the only responses you know. You don't think for yourself and you call it "humility." But it is actually gross disrespect for the mind God gave you. You aren't humble, you are superfine. And you are very misled.
