The ALWAYS added the number of aux. pioneers to the number of regulars, as comments to the figures will show. It will say something like "added to the hundreds of thousands of regular pioneers, many thousands also found apportunity to serve as auxilliary pioneers, making the total number XXX,XXX" etc. So there is NO WAY there is a 27 % drop. A 2 % drop when the work supposedly is escallating, is serious enough. No need for a Blondie to reply. I was a pioneer and an insider for so many years that I know.
Number of pioneers down 27 % ? No no no !

Won't the #s go right back up in the US, since (I'm assuming) the laid off Bethelites will become pioneers?

hmmmmm......where does it show in the scriptures that the apostles were always involved in or bragging about or publishing a head count on anything except the story of the loaves and fishes?
Just a rhetorical question.

TOH...are they breaking down the number of regular auxilliary pioneers from the number of regular pioneers? When did they start doing that? If you auxilliary pioneer occasionally, then wouldn't you come under publishers only?

We need to see a scan of the 2004 year to compare with the 2005. I don't believe in my 45 years in the borg they ever added the two together to get total pioneers. But a scan of 2004 would let us see apples to apples.Jeff
There is most likely one on a older thread if anyone knows how to find that.

Old Hippie,
Not sure what you are talking about, but here is the table I made on that thread you mentioned: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/10/103528/1802817/post.ashx#1802817
Here is the thread you were looking for: SERVICE REPORT 2005 : WATCHTOWER FEB 1ST 2006
I couldn't find a reference to 27% reduction in pioneers.
Respectfully,

Anyone know how many Special Pioneers, Missionaries, and traveling oveerseers there are? The footnote at the bottom of the stat sheet says $104 million was spent during 2005 for these people. Anyone know what that would break down to per person?

I asked years ago whether the "pioneers" including auxiliary pioneers? Noone could tell me. Does this mean anyone who Aux. pioneered in April were included? For that matter I wondered if Regular pioneeers that quit after January were included. If so then there never really was that many pioneers at one given point in the year. In fact is likely that an average number of pioneers per month in 2005 would be much lower, my guess is 50% or so. Anyone with the KMs for last year could tell us if this is so by averaging the 12 months numbers.

Yes, I see that they did finally split them into 2 groups. I always had to estimate the number of auxiliary pioneers versus the regular pioneers to get a picture of the average hours/month.
But remember that in 1999 they dropped the hour requirements for auxiliary from 70 to 50 and for regular from 90 to 70 hours.
I don't expect to see dramatic drops from year to year but a slowing down. Based on the meeting attendance in this area, only about 2/3 of the active publishers attend the meetings.

Hello TOH, hope you're well.
Two people selling useless magazines is two too many. Up or down, who cares? The magazines themselves are useless. Turning in time is an exercise in futility.
