How did you get over your fears?
While still in could you have accurately pictured your current post-JW life?
What used to be your view of Ex-JWs before you became one? How did this change?

It was always the same for me:
"What did you do?"
But my best friend's dad when I was younger was an elder and she used to sneak into his files and listen in on his phone convos and I'd have my ansewr before they even made the announcement.
I was a pioneer..a man I called on, looked at me and asked..."how can you get around the fact that you are not doing anything to really help the world in a political way, such as antiwar activism, helping with the hungry etc." I never got over it.. now that I'm out, I will try.
when my sister (scattykat) was fading away I asked her What was her purpose in life now.
I truly wanted to know how she got by day to day. To me it seemed far to overwhelming and scary to leave the witnesses. I needed to know how she did it.
I talked to quite a few inactive JWs and a few DF'd. Usually I knew the surface reason why persons were DF'd. As to the inactive ones, I liked to compare notes as to what unloving things were being done by whom and to whom in the congregation. So often the elders would say I was the only one experiencing those things. Talking to others who saw the same thing made me realize what a load of crap the elders were dishing out.
I did not meet too many that had doctrinal issues, at least they didn't discuss them with me. I never felt a need to talk to elders about my questions. I knew to do my research in the WTS publications and that was the same answer they would give me.
I always was amazed when I heard gossip about this one or that one that had veered doctrinally, e.g., thinking that more than 144,000 were going to heaven. As if the "active" JWs I knew weren't violating the law of love every day, which was more important.
