Yes Welcome Delboy
Hello and welcome
Just like you, ... I would make each meeting I could. Its just showing that one would be strong, ... AND
He just might share something, .."real special", .. from the world headquarters.
One reason I used to get excited was that I hoped beyond hope that the CO would bring news of some sure fire way we'd all know the Big A was happening like right away. Or reveal new light or something.
Another reason I think people get excited is because of group think. "They all seem very excited. I should act excited."
Then once in a blue moon, he's a good speaker and you know he'll have everyone laughing. I only remember ONE that was like that.
You have the good, the bad and the ugly. Each congregation knows by the second visit who fits what description.
Blueblades
Yes, I think that Delboy has got it sussed, (must be British with that name)
I can remember the odd one that was genuinely interested in the "flock", and I liked the one who used to stand on the platform and tell everybody what he had told the elders to do, that made them embarrassed.. He was a poor speaker, but when you spoke face to face, he was really down to earth (Anybody in the UK remember Ken Wildig?)
most though are so wrapped up in procedure that they have lost the point of what they are to do. Since we moved areas and I am now "Inactive", when I came across a c/o who had known me as an elder before, I braced myself for some interest in my condition - Noo ...Just not interested.
Dave, You mentioned a CO named Gary Carey. I had a guy by that name in my congregation in California 25 years ago. I wonder if it is the same guy as I could have seen him go on to CO. Was the CO's wife named Peggy?

Yes, I am British and I am also disgruntled and have been for sometime.
Like a lot of you on here, I have worked extremely hard in the truth over the years but unfortunately my efforts fell on deaf ears. After being brought up in the truth, 2-3 years of solid graft, I was overlooked and a brother who had been in the truth 1-2 years was appointed a servant over me. That was about the third disappointment in a row and I couldn't take anymore so I took a back seat. I will never leave the Truth but I won't reach out again.
I recently moved into a new congregation but because of my own 'admittedly' poor meeting attendance I have become a cast-out and the Elder of my group consistantly harrasses me and my wife. In fact he looks disappointed when he sees us at the meeting and avoids speaking to us unless its a reason to moan. I am probably bringing the hours down in his group I guess!
I have lost my love for the truth, but never for Jehovah God. But it does seem if you are not a pioneer or struggling in some way that people look down on you.
Talk about casting the first stone!
Hey Luna2--Did that CO's last name start with "L" and his wife was a bubblehead?
