But isn't it strange that the entire world is wrong in this case? And just the JWs were smart enough to get the right understanding?

i understand what your saying.but do you not agree it all deapends on what the scriptures say?if the scriptures say that jerusalem would be desolate for 70 years how can 539bce to 586bce be true?when that only gives around 50 years?

That was explained many times before it is one of the most popular topics on this forum, the 607 versus the 586 date.
But it is also very wrong for the WTS to have thrown out people just because they don't accept their date as correct. -

well greendawn what do you feel the scriptures say?because to me when the scriptures say jerusalem will be a desolate place for 70 years its telling me it will be desolate 70 years if thats the case.then 50 years simply isnt enough

CONGRATULATIONS SCHOLAR!! A dubious award, I'm sure, to you. Of course you still must always bow to us emperors.
PMJ, if the only issue you have is 70 years, guess what... it can be resolved in another Biblical way.Realize that the temple was dedicated in 516 BC... 70 years after it had been destroyed.
Why is this important 70-year period never mentioned by the WT? The alternative explanations of the 70-year prophecy that have been given make more sense, and there is still the 70-year period that the Bible gives. It can actually be reconciled.
If you say, "God must have done whatever is best, and best obviously would be xyz" then you may be desperately mistaken. You have created your theology first, and looked for verification. This is backward.
It is better to say, "God did abc... and God does what is best. So, how can I understand that abc is best?" That way, you can actually learn something from God, not instruct Him.
Don't keep forcing a round peg into a square hole.
