It;s funny, but Jesus always prayed to his FATHER, and didn't call him anything else. (God or Jehovah)

What did any of that have to do with the subject of the post? There are plenty of threads discussing the alleged contradictions of scripture. Your collection there has been answered over and over again, ad nauseum by apologists who look beyond the surface trolling skeptic.

Shining One: It seems appropriate to me in any hair-splitting discussion of biblical quotations to occasionally point out that the Bible is full of contradictions and inaccuracies. With all due respect..............

I feel the wind's effect on my body and my emotional state and the world around me. Too bad I have never felt the same from your god.

    cyd0099,

    How true THAT is, huh?

BTW, speaking of "the wind", it looks as if PMJ has chosen to blow away with the wind. Thoughtful questions will do that to obstinate trolls.

Then why did you never pray for worldpeace, PMJ? Can you answer this for me?

    DannyB,

The evil Watchtowergod told him not to.....it's not his agenda and would mess up the purpose of his cult.

It;s funny, but Jesus always prayed to his FATHER, and didn't call him anything else. (God or Jehovah)

    hideme,

Even though we are ALL aware of this....the JWs are hell-bent on pushing their obviously stupid WTS teachings about (USING THE NAME!) when their own bible disproves this.

Sooooo, where art thou with all your PROOF, you Pitifully Misled Jerk?

    Name

: REPUTATION name > b : an illustrious record : FAME name for himself in golf> c : a person or thing with a reputation

Since the word jehovah is not found in the NT, my guess would be he meant defintion 3 from websters.

Watch out or I'll call betterthanezra over here to give you a talkin to.

WHEN JESUS SAID HALLOWED BE THY NAME IN THE LORDS PRAYER.WHAT NAME WAS HE TALKING ABOUT?

    Jehovah?

Then why was he never recorded using that name?

(I know, I asked this question before but you still didn't answer.)

Btw, "hallowed be thy name" is still present in Jewish rabbinical prayer (the Qaddish), as utterly consistent with the Jewish rabbinical practice of not using the tetragrammaton (Yhwh). Another good reason to look for a broader meaning of "name" as IP_SEC pointed to.

To save time, I'll bring up the next JW prooftexts. John 17:6: "I have made your name known to those whom you gave me from the world." 26: "I made your name known to them, and I will make it known."

If it were the name Yhwh, was it not already known?

How was this "name" which Jesus made known given to the Son (v. 11-12)?

Answer PMJ, it's not that hard.

(Btw to unlock the capitals it's the key just over the left shift key on most keyboards.)

As Narkisos said:the Qaddish prayer compared to the Lord's prayer scroll down to also read the Amidah

    PMJ:

WHEN JESUS SAID HALLOWED BE THY NAME IN THE LORDS PRAYER.WHAT NAME WAS HE TALKING ABOUT?

I would suggest that you read the Society's publications to find the answer! Try the "Insight" volume and you'll see that the WTS teach that much more is involved in "the name" than simply repeating the word "Jehovah".

Sorry, PMJ, but you've lost that point ....and it was far to easy! Try reading up more, eh?

Hm, PMJ is gonna get confused now. This is to difficult, as I can testify to too, it took me a while to learn this stuff. I`ll (over)simplify it a bit for you, PMJ. The thing is: At the time of Jesus, the name of the God of Israel, Yhwh, was going out of fashion. It had become a relic from the past. One of the reasons is that the name originated at a time where the jews weren`t as strictly monotheistic as the JWs have been told. When the jews in previous time started to worship Ba`al and other "false gods", it wasn`t as if they were worshipping a God they didn`t really believe "existed", they actually believed all these other Gods existed - but that they weren`t their God, they weren`t the God of Israel and the jews. Only Yhwh was. But at the time of Jesus, this belief in other Gods apart from Yhwh, had disappeared. There only was one God. And when there was only one God, his name had become redundant: Think about this: If you were stranded alone on a desert island, would you care much about your name? No, because a name is only something that an ... individual has to separate/distinguish him from other individuals. So too with God. His name was only important in the sense that it was a tool to separate him from other Gods. This, in combination with superstition (the command that one shouldn`t take the Lords name in vain, which in jewish superstition became "don`t use that name at all") - resulted in the disappearance of the "divine name", which the JWs insist on using. At the time of Jesus, the name was no longer used, perhaps except in the Temple. And this is why the name never was (ever) in the NT-texts, and this is why Jesus never mentions it, but instead refers to the Father. As for the Lords prayer, see the peacefulPets and Narkissos posts above.
