From my perspective Cordelia,

I have always considered the "truth" to refer to a concept that was absolute. For me, "truth" is the real nature of something. The actual essence of reality, free from our distorted perceptions. The watchtower has proven, from its very inception, that they not only have no consistent definition of truth, but they do not even comprehend what "truth" is intented to be. Truth is not a "sliding scale", it does not mutate and wear different masks. It is what it is, reality. The actual state of being, in and of itself. It is what it is, not what 'we want it to be'.......for the JWs, they have proven again and again, the truth is 'what they want it to be'....

Since 1879, they have spread misinformation, false dates, empty promises, lethal medical advice, idiotic sets of rules and regulations and completely and utterly distorted the words of the very prophet they claim to represent, Jesus. From CT Russell, to Fred Franz, they have used charlatans and buffoons to translate the bible to fit their own agenda. They have controlled the lives and thoughts of millions of people while simultaneously building a multi-billion dollar publishing corporation.

There is not even the remotest chance that what they represent is the truth. And if by some bizarre twist in the universe it was the truth, I would rather be dead then exist in the watchtowers perception of truth.

Cordelia - You and your old man have heard of the Quakers, right? I think they're far closer to the ideals of which you speak than ever will be the JWs and they show 'em up on every count, including humility, is my guess.

The harder they (the JWs) work to try to control you, is what convinces me it's not "the truth." The more they work to convince and control, the more they're trying (and needing to convince themselves), and that's a good sign it's bogus scat.

I've never worried it's the truth. It's definitely nonsense. No doubt about it in my mind. They're just unwell, and they work very, very hard to blind themselves to their sickness, which is denial.

With all the "stuff" going on in the world today I sometimes wonder if the world as we know it will not in fact really end. Yet at the same time I know that what the JW's teach is far from the truth!

Cordelia, "speaking Jehovah's name" is comparable to "demons believe in God and shudder"........so what? It isn't gonna save their white-washed behinds.

Also, other religions preach and teach the doctrines in the bible......they just don't go out in public and make nuisances and fools of themselves to do it, in order to satisfy the hidden agendas of a multi-billion dollar publishing company.

Additionally, Cordelia, re: "going to war"........there wasn't a tribe or nation led by Jehovah that DIDN'T "go to war," according to the scriptures. Jesus never condoned not joining the army, he merely told them not to be harrassing anyone (abusing their power and authority).

Can a Governing Body of Haughty hypocrites actually pass on the truth to anyone who blindly follows them? They are blood-guilty vermin and deceivers. Your father is merely deceived.

Try "What authority does the Faithful and Discreet Slave have over anything? They don't get to decide on how anything gets done, the Governing Body decides everything that the corporate shareholders don't decide. So, if Jesus left the Faithful and Discreet Slave over everything, why don't they have any authority at all?"

Try "Where does the Bible give elders the authority to judge wrongdoers in private, closed door meetings that cannot be witnessed or recorded? Even the Pharisees didn't do that."

Try "If claiming that a certain thing will happen at a certain time and that the time was set by God doesn't make you a prophet, what does make you a prophet? If they were acting like a prophet then they were false prophets, weren't they?"

Try "If the bride of Christ is supposed to be without spot or blemish from the political world, why was the Watchtower Society an Associate member of the UN/DPI?"

These may not be the ones that matter the most to you, but they are among the ones that have no Scriptural answer, whatsoever. BTW, most religions have answers for most any question you have, that doesn't make them right or God's chosen people.

Matthew 24 warned about false christs (lit. "false anointed"; gr. pseudochristos) and false prophets who would claim to know the location of the Christ. You were raised under the teachings of a group of false anointed. You have been misled, sweety.

Having never been a dub I can't answer this question the way those of you who have been, but I would like to answer it this way: I am reminded of how anorexics view their bodies as they look at themselves in the mirror - they actually SEE themselves as overweight. No matter how reasonable and logical another person can be in pointing out that they are fatally thin, they won't see it themselves and the result is fear to the point that they will starve themselves to death. Why does this happen? Because there is a distortion in how their mind is operating. I don't know if this distortion is psychological or if there is a pathological reason, but the result is the same - a distorted BELIEF that they are overweight. Whether or not they get they recover from this distorted thinking will determine whether of not they will continue to live.

It seems to me that it is the same with JWs - their BELIEF that it is "the truth" is based on distorted thinking which prevents them from seeing what others do who have broken away or who were never in it in the first place. Their claims of being "the happiest people on earth" is, IMHO, a disguised form of fear that they aren't willing to consciously consider and deal with - as long as they can put on the happy face and continue to tell themselves they are happy, they won't have to face the reality that it's just a bunch of horseshyte. The "mirror" that others place in front of them to point out the distortions is largely ignored because the thinking process has been damaged. Thepeople who are seeing the reality, have restored their ability to see without distortion and drop the fear that flowed out of that distortion. If someone has trouble dropping the fear, then you can be assured that some distorted thinking is still in place.

Because I have taken the time to study what the WTS teaches and what the Bible says and what the WTS has been doing for years. Their own words hang them.

They don't teach "the truth," in fact just the opposite, they teach lies.
