Wow Grunt. Said with spirit and truth. You have left me shaken.

I think there is some of both. Folks who really only want the practical effect of change on the shunned, and those who Grunt described. Greedy eternal life grabbers. Suck-ups for Jehovah. Yes, it's possible.

I also think that most have a bit of both. It must be the greed that allows them to even contemplate it.

I've been lucky. My mom was the first person I told when I figured out that I could be no part of the blood policy. I was brash, angry, (righteously so), and scared shitless that her love was as conditional as my family raised me to think love should be. She has evolved a bit more than the average witness. She won't shun me, and I think at least a part of her understands that I believe she should be ashamed for being a witness.

I've kept her posted as to many of my discoveries about the org. &, for that matter, the bible. At some point, I descerned that I needed to back off, so we are kind of at a "don't talk about it stage".

I'm seriously considering calling a family meeting soon however. Maybe I'll start off by having them read Grunt's post above.

Man, that post did me in. I am almost in tears after reading it. I have a niece that I have never seen in her two years of life and my brother and his family live about a mile from me.
I am not even df but I have been very vocal to anyone who asks me about religion. I am an 'apostate born again' and they can't hear my scriptural refutation of their wacky, nonsense doctrine.
    Wow.
May God give the real apostates in Brooklyn the justice they deserve.
    Rex
