  I hope these remarks are clearly understood. When people write me and ask for help, I do whatever I can. When asked questions, I respond accurately when I can do so; otherwise I do not guess. People are free to speculate here--and do, many times wildly. When I can give honest answers, I do. There are times when silence is better.

  I do not choose to say anything further about my own situation; Lord knows I've said plenty on this board--perhaps way too much. I do so at great risk--especially to my family.

  : is it any excuse for being rude and dismissive towards people who simply want to know the truth?

  If you are speaking of me, Stephanus, you motivate me to leave the board. Really.

  : Inquiring minds and independent thinkers are bound to ask these questions - would you, like the 'Tower, like to suppress that natural urge?

  The questions asked on this thread are about ME. I have no desire to suppress that natural urge, but I have no mandate to share details of my life.

  Wrong impressions are quickly derived here, so much so that I've seen virtual calls for pitchforks and firebrands in certain situations. That's why many potentially fine contributors will not post here; they have no stomach for it. Raise an eyebrow and watch the conflagration--funny, no one can see the eyebrow; ah, but they assume it.

  Clearly my profile has become too high; I'll cut it down to size myself.

  I dream about Max every night! Just kidding. But I do think about who he might be all the time. Isn't it weird how we are? I just want to know because I gotta know. Since he's so credible and since he has the inside scoop all the time. BTW, whatever happened to Prominent Bethelite?

  People, People....please.

  Max is under no more compulsion to reveal his identiy than the rest of us. Most of us choose to obscure our real selves for various reasons - family or friends still on the inside, business relationships, etc. Just because Max seems to be more interesting than most, and have some reliable information...does not oblige him to indulge our over-active curiosity.

  To those who "just have to know", why not post your names and addresses first. We all come here expecting a certain level of anonymity. Let's not rock anyone's boat until they're ready.

  Sorry if this sounds like a rant. Privacy is a big issue for me.

  I know who he is, and I had never heard his name before. He was prominent in some areas of the country, but unknown where I live.

  Don't ask, I can't remember his name. I know when I heard it, that I knew I didn't know him. So he most likely isn't someone you know. Sorry.

  But he is awesome, isn't he? And a valuable person for us to have.

  Don't let some not so thoughtful post get you down, your work hear is very much appreciated by many and many hold you in the highest reguard.

  I feel what ever you decide is yours, and yours alone perogative.

  I'll defend your right to say it, but it doesn't mean I beleive it.

  No-one said that anyone has to reveal anything to anyone. Someone simply asked a question. Is that any reason to start making threats? Maximus, you are too important and what you do is too important to deprive those who depend on your snippets of inside info about how the Borg is being undermined to give them hope that this is not all in vain. I've never been a Dub, so your leaving is not likely to hurt me in any real way. It will however be a damned shame for those who have come out and see your efforts as a beacon of hope, and simply want to ask questions about one who has done so much for so many. If my previous post offends, then I am sorry - my intention is not to do so, as it is not the intention of those who simply ask questions to do so either.

  are not helpful and put Max and people like him who are already in a difficult position under even more pressure. Maximus is not ego driven and I can assure you is anything but rude and dismissive and he has good reason for posting here.

  Who said I'm interested in his identity? His response to the first poster didn't sound very nice to me, so I said so! And now he's threatening to leave this board because I opened my mouth and said so? How very nice - from now on, I'll be under a cloud on this board: "Whisper, point, whisper! He's the one who made Maximus leave!" Maximus' identity must stay secret at all costs, and I challenge anyone to show in this thread where I said otherwise. All I have been saying is that a request for such info can be answered with a polite no!
