Fan-fricking-tastic!! I'm saving that for posterity.

I suspect that if the GB, Bethel, etc. gets wind of this, that elder will be caught in a whirlwind. If so, he may not be an elder much longer, maybe not even a Witness.

As others have mentioned, he seemed like an okay guy, put in a bad position. If/when he ends up joining the JWD, I'm sure we'd all greet with with open arms.

EVERY Witness actively campaigns against other religions and to pretend otherwise demonstrates disingenuity on your part.

The argument I offered is sound. Would you like me to parade before your eyes what the Watchtower (offered publicly in the house-to-house ministry) has had to say about the Catholic Church, or do you already know your rebuttal is shot to pieces?

I'll accept your apology for accusing me of poor argument whenever you are willing to concede that JWs actively and publicly campaign AGAINST religions that are not JW.

dozy: How do you interpret the scripture which talks about "Not even saying a greeting" to such ones? To what kind of people shouldn't we speak to?

dozy, this is a fair question and has a simple answer. Unlike Jehovah's Witnesses, I let the Scriptures interpret themselves. The best way to do this is to consider the context.

2 John 4-11—I rejoice very much because I have found certain ones of your children walking in the truth, just as we received commandment from the Father. 5 So now I request you, lady, as [a person] writing you, not a new commandment, but one which we had from [the] beginning, that we love one another. 6 And this is what love means, that we go on walking according to his commandments. This is the commandment, just as YOU people have heard from [the] beginning, that YOU should go on walking in it. 7 For many deceivers have gone forth into the world, persons not confessing Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist.
8 Look out for yourselves, that YOU do not lose the things we have worked to produce, but that YOU may obtain a full reward. 9 Everyone that pushes ahead and does not remain in the teaching of the Christ does not have God. He that does remain in this teaching is the one that has both the Father and the Son. 10 If anyone comes to YOU and does not bring this teaching, never receive him into YOUR homes or say a greeting to him. 11 For he that says a greeting to him is a sharer in his wicked works.

I would say, by this standard, ANYONE who does not REMAIN in the teaching of Christ. The Governing Body routinely pushes ahead and does not remain in the teaching of Christ. But since we have the preceding paragraph to offer us context for considering the paragraph you referred to, it seems that a specific teaching of Christ is being referenced.

It is persons who reject the teaching of Christ as having come in the flesh, as far as I can tell, that is being referred to here. If you have a different understanding, I would be delighted to see how you arrived at it without being told what to think from Watchtower publications.

    Curiously,
    AuldSoul

johnny cip-I can understand where you are coming from, but around here it is very common to decorate wreaths, plants, fences etc, with small white lights. Even elders's wives do this. Must be a mid-western thing.

At first, my husband thought they were Christmas lights, too.

Poor argument. Many leave the JW religion every year and any witness can speak to them.

Don't you realize that you are posting of a board FULL of and read by people who tired to leave the JW religon quietly but got DF anyway? Do you know how many people here are trying to quietly leave the JWs and keep their family? They are moving to other states, they screen their calls, they keep their phone number unlisted, they are very careful what they say to family ...hundreds of people reading your post KNOW you can't just leave the JW religion and keep your JW friends and family. I am talking about people who are not 'speaking against the JWs'...people who just want to live free of the WT.

Hello Dozy and welcome to this forum designed by and for Watchtower apostates.

Let's have some proof of your statement, shall we?

I invite you to call the Walland, TN congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and ask the elders if they have warned the entire congregation not to talk to me because I am an apostate. There are local posters and lurkers from my area on this board who did not know who I was until the elders warned them I may try to give them apostate literature. The literature they were referring to was information and letters from the United Nations detailing the Watchtower's involvement with the United Nations which had absolutely nothing to do with a library pass.

My friend, you are involved in an organisation that has constantly mislead and outright lied to its followers about its history and its involvement with the world. I urge you to investigate the Watchtower Society and examine their own literature that contains changing doctrines and policies that you as a Jehovah's Witness are compelled to conform to under threat of expulsion. When those doctrines are 'adjusted' due to 'New Light' you are then compelled to accept them as coming directly from God.

I also urge you to obtain a copy of the WTBTS KINGDOM INTERLINEAR TRANSLATION OF THE GREEK SCRIPTURES and compare the Westcott and Hort text with the New World Translation.

Again, I urge you to use several Bible translations and read the books of Romans, Galatians and Ephesians and ask God to speak to your heart as you read those verses.

    Sincerely,

    Bob Evans

    Walland, TN.

I can't believe anyone would feel sorry for the two elders. These two elders come to this dude's house to shit on him and he's suppose to stand there at take it? Wow.

I'm actually disappointed that the guy with the camera didn't get a few more zingers in.
