That is the funniest video I have seen in the longest time. It is one of those types of videos that you can email around the internet to all your friends - and it will still be funny 10 years later after it circulates back to you again.
At first, I was wondering if it was all staged due to the lead elder stopping and complaining about there being no light(thought he forgot his lines). But I was convinced soon thereafter!
We need more of these videos!!

It made me feel really sad to watch that. Both of them looked uncomfortable doing something that their gut probably tells them is wrong but their brainwashing makes them do. The younger guy seemed way out of his depth. It makes me sad to think of the well intentioned elders I knew, are in my family, behaving so harmfully.
Amazing documentation of something outsiders never see. Bravo!
The smile on that guy's face. That is the thing...
He was telling you that you are now dead to God. That God will no longer hear your prayers. That your friends will not look you in the eye or say hello to you because you are dead. He is telling you that your JW family now considers you dead. He is telling you that you are 'mentally diseased' and 'wicked.'
He is saying all of that, with a smile on his face.
He is telling you that he is directed by Holy Spirit. And you are dead to God. Oh and Have a nice day!

because they know you got the letter--------how do they know? You mean something of this importance in dubland can't be sent by certified mail? You were lucky, you walked away with your wife and child, others have not had that luxury. I don't think he came off looking bad at all. From an outsiders opinion the only way it looked is that he no longer recognized that they had any authority over him by trying to claim they represented God or the Holy Spirit in any way. I think every non jw should see this 'documentary' to see just how one is 'supposedly' kicked out of God's good graces! They are a shameful lot! all of them.
To me it sounds like you are making excuses for them because they are just doing what is right in their mind. Once again we can get back to any wrongs done in the world by 'well meaning' people. They really had no bad motive, just following orders. Again, motives do not come into play when being false prophets, criminals or crusaders. Guilty is still guilty no matter the 'intentions' or 'motives'. Jim Jones, David Koresh and others of their ilk had good 'intentions' when they first started too.
maybe, I just feel bad for all people stuck under there mind control. The younger Elder was probably born into the religion just like I was and has never known any different. Obviously, I dont know all the circumstances. Maybe those particular Elders really did do him wrong. Either way I think its sad more than
funny.

I probably am still a little bitter and agree came across as a jerk. Heck, it's only been a little over a year that I've started de-programming myself. Wish I could of rehearsed what I was going to say and came across as more confident. I guess I won't get another shot at it!!
I too felt bad for the elder, for his lack of knowledge, lack of speaking and thinking ability. But I ask myself, would I feel bad for the Nazi who shows up at my door in 1942 "just doing what he is told?" As said by smarter people than me - "evil things happen because good people do nothing."
You state that the same thing happened to you a couple of weeks ago. Congratulations, I think. I'm glad you handled it "quickly and with confidence." Way to go!
If anything, maybe this should teach us to be more prepared when the Elder Mob does show up to "kill" you. I hope people can take that away from the video. Maybe we can work together on a script to use when it does happen. OR how about a book called "Reasoning with the JW Elders Who Come to Your Door to DF You"
