America is the way it is partly because of the puritanical ideas brought over from the first british settlers. The "founding fathers" of this nation were clearly all either Masons, Quakers, Puritans, or other waspy type peoples therefore many of the laws are based on that way of thinking. I mean come on...witch hunts?!?!
