I view them like this........they put their pants on one leg at a time, just like I do.

Besides, they wouldn't have made their exit from the cult if they weren't VERY wise and with a modicum of humility.

I appreciate these former elders for their help with my questions. They have the knowledge about what went on behind closed doors and are willing to share so that we former, little R&F can understand why things were the way they were. (If that makes sense)

I view the elders on this board the same way i would view anyone on this board. We we both in the borg at one time and thats it.

and they have some knowledge that some of us may have not benn privy too.

If I had read more on this board before I began posting I would not have chosen Wasanelder Once as my name or whatever it is called. I would have probably chosen Slavenomore. That would have been more appropriate for how I feel now. A friend who has been disfellowshipped for 8 years or so got in contact with me. I sent a letter and wasn't shy about how I feel about the hypocrisy of people we knew in common and my decision never to return to the Kindumb Hell again. He wrote back and said he didnt want to maintain contact with me. Hell, he's out 8 years and still they have thier hooks in him. WOW. He was an elder at one time. I'm glad to know he is well, but good riddence. Elder smelder, I was Onceasucker.

Don't worry, wasanelder, you are out physically and mentally. Your bud seems to be still trapped. It's the nice ones who leave in the end.

...........................you know...........not just "elders" have a hard time "letting go".....many I know, who have been out a LONG time still seem "scared" to beleive in "something else"....christmas, halloween, r rated movies, going to a "worldly church"........on & on & on

There was a time when there were very few elders on the board. Some angry exjws used to rail against them because they were "elders". And if an exelder made an unpopular comment, they'd be hit with a slur simply because they are still thinking they're elders. I see a positive change here. It's refreshing!

I had a two-and-a-half hour phone conversation with an ex-elder yesterday, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

I was never an elder, but it is helpful to me to know that my perceptions are correct about how clueless these guys are of reality. I have many friends who are ex-elders that I was friends with while they were elders.

Elders are not even middle-tier management, although they seem like such an authority to most in the congregations. They are just as duped as the average publisher, in fact maybe more so (it seems to be an unwritten qualification for advancement).

I know a fellow whose name was put forward as a possible Ministerial Servant but who was known by the BOE to have poor personal study habits and only surface knowledge of the Bible. He now posts here and his study habits have improved dramatically.

I believe they are mostly unwitting victimizers who are repeating an abusive cycle they learned from the Watchtower Society. I agree with Blondie, the good ones leave. Their conscience accuses them long before they make that decision.

    Respectfully,
    AuldSoul
