Cofty: as I see, the human skull is that which has the greatest volume. It is the lowest on the right. This is why I don't see the Neanthertal's skull as a human one.

I'm not going to break out WTS materials to try to say what "they" believe. If you want to discuss something with a JW family member, you might have to do so.

But it seems to me that Watchtower materials indicated that scientists were creating a whole subspecies based on one or two "deformed" remains of humans. They actually suggested that all the evidence for evolution was still just a handful of fossils that could fit in a footlocker.

That's because they closed the books on this matter well over 100 years ago when such a thing might have been true. Today, some remains of of over 400 Neanderthals have been found. Add that to the campsite fossils such as stone tools and it is a considerable amount.

Homo Erectus, an ancestor to the Governing Body? - possibly the picture on the left is. I can now see where Brother Lett gets his facial expressions from.

Neanderthals had larger brain volumes than Homo sapiens.

" Neanderthals had larger brain volumes than Homo sapiens."

I remember reading that brain volume alone is not conclusive evidence for superior intelligence.

But of course, we do not know, maybe our Neanderthal cousins had solved all the major Philosophical questions, and even mathematical ones, but hadn't bothered to invent writing. (??).

    The naysayers are absolutely correct.

If Neanderthals were human, they'd have worn clothing, cooked, used tools, created religious art, and buried their dead.

They didn't do any of... wait... sorry, they did do all of that.

Huh; guess they were human after all.

Although Neandertals had a larger cranium than Homo Sapiens that is not a sign of superior or even equal intelligence.

They actually had less of the frontal areas (where their skull slopes backwards) of the brain where fore planning originates. Also they had less cerebral cortex where general intelligence is to be found. Where they had more brain was to the rear of the skull in the occipital regions where vision is centered. Apparently he had more visual 'intelligence' than us.

That they were not as intelligent as us is shown by their tool making abilities and limitations. Their tools were more advanced than any other previous species but ours. We not only had a better tool kit, we had a tool kit that was improved throughout the duration of our species.

Neandertal on the other hand had a tool kit that stayed the same for 250,000 years without any advances throughout that time period. They also never made tools out of bone like Homo Sapiens did.

Another feature of Neandertals that would limit their knowledge was the fact that they seemed to have lived in groups of less than 25 members and were restricted to limited territories. Homo Sapiens traveled throughout larger territories in numbers approaching 100. The less people there are the less 'wisdom' there is to be passed down throughout the generations.

But the picture on the right is the "mother" organization.
