She said it was Protestant but a different denomination of it. I will have to ask her to clarify
as already stated, that just means she is not catholic.
here in the south/southwest we have a lot of legalism type churches, church of christ, the once huge Church of God, and of course the , Baptists, methodits, Adventists, they teach very similar to jws. I had a doc who was one, and he used to try and act like an elder when I came in to see him .Here in the Bible Belt many things are shunned and frowned upon. Our town just went wet recently, but not without a fight to the death by the Baptists and Church of Christ. We once had a place called Judge Roy Beans, well they were a private club ( that is the only way you could sell alcohol then ) and they had a little entertainment on fri-sunday nights. Small bad, singing, a few folks got up and danced. Wow, you would have thought we were the Red light district by the way the churches moaned and groaned and damned us all to hell. They kept up the pressure on the city council until they ran Beans out of town. They also ran Cinemark out of town, b/c "undesirables" (teenage male hispanics) hung around there. We can't keep a decent restaurant, or theater. I've talked to some of the restaurant managers that have managed to stay open, and they say they have to kiss up to the city council and the council is determined to keep us in the dark ages. All around us is towns busy with clubs, dancing, big theaters, great malls, fine restaurants, etc, but not us. Someone will open up a nice place, like Black Eyed Pea, and poof they are gone. And it is not b/c people are not going in. the city council rules with the FIST OF GOD. Recently we just lost Tia's. Nice family place for Mexican food. We got to get them old half dead religious nit wits off the city council. Sounds a lot like the FDS lol
