If a certain form of behavior is ok for an "appointed man" who is an example to the flock, then it's ok for the flock.
Scenario for nytelecom1:
You become an elder and are on a committee. The accused has been reported because two witnesses heard him say that he was using forums which discussed anti-JW stuff and he frequently socialised with DF'd and DA'd people, didn't think it was wrong and wasn't going to stop.

I think we all know Jdubs like this. They are out there everywhere. Getting away with the little things. Let them. Geesh, I dont know how people can do the double life thing. Didn't work for me. I'd rather be completely myself than try to look good on both sides of the fence. Screw that. [>:(]

I would imagine the mere fact that you visit this site would be grounds for disfellowshipping, or at least, what they used to call, "pulic reproving", or at least taking away your microphone and selling literature behind the counter duties.
Perhaps if you were honest with yourself (and us) you would have the courage to leave the organisation instead of leading a major double life.

Funny. At one time, ten years ago, I would have considered it the greatest of privileges to handle microphones, literature and read announcements. I am so glad I am a doubting thomas by nature.

I never said YOU lived a double life. Just many jdubs do. Your posts make me think of people who do.
I grew up in a large metropolitan area, so big it couldn't all fit into one circuit assembly. But still, we had the counsel (I remember it as if it were yesterday)... no association after work hours with worldly (non-JW) people. We weren't to waste our time that way. Too much studying, ministry, time with one's family, or whatever had to be done....
We heard endless stories about how "immoral relations" with some worldly associations began through after-hours association.
You talked about the idea of 'beating the crap out of an elder' if they narc'd on you. I never learned that at the Kingdom Hall! Such an action (if carried out) would surely be dealt with because it involves the IMAGE of the congregation. And IMAGE is what it's all about isn't it? Telcom, you have to remember to put the organization ahead of yourself, at all times, no matter what principles are involved!
