Hi everyone,

I would like to ask for some help if that is ok, first ill exsplain my situation. Im 19, male, and for the last 1-2 months have been to no meetings at all, due to all this stuff with the UN and many other things. I was on the phone the other day to one of my close (well i thought so) friends, and we were talking, you see he is from another town and had no idea of me not attending meetings. Anyway we start talking about why i hadnt been, and i told him a bit about the UN situation, and him being completely fooled by the organisation, pretty much said he couldnt talk to me, but he did agree to read some information as long as it was all facts.

Thats where id like to ask for your help please, i was wondering if anyone has a letter that exsplains it all just with facts? or if anyone has a series of links i could email him that would be all official like from the UN? Or even a good way to exsplain it all, you see the problem is it has to be from the UN, not anything else, it has to be ''fool proof'' so to speak. i am doing it myself at the moment too, but i would appreciate your help, i seem to be very stressed over this and find it hard to deal with the whole situation. Welcome to the forun whatawaste, I have no website links to the UN scandals but no doubt other ppl here will have plenty of documentation to offer. You will soon find out that there are much worse skeletons in the JW closet than the UN scandal including them being the owners of shares of a company that produces military weapons or parts.

If you search thru this forum you will find all sorts of info on the UN thing, someone even has a letter from the WTS saying basically, yeah we did join, but just so we could go to the library big deal. The problem is while your friend says he will read only facts most dubs take this info as something made up. I have had people say well they had a good reason to do it or how do we know that letter came from the society. That the true obstacle you must over come...a mind that is made up before you even say anything.

I know JW's that say 'so what' about the UN affair. Many JWs do not want to know truth, or don't even care if what they have is not the truth, so don't hold your hopes too high.

At www.jwfacts.com there are a lot of issues discussed with a large number of Watchtower quotes. You can copy the quotes and just give these to him. Suggest he read Studies in the Scriptures if his library has a copy in order to see how different and pagan the beliefs used to be. I deconverted myself without any apostate sites, just by reading the old books.

The quotes website at http://www.reexamine.org/quotes/index.htm is good because it has a lot of quotes without commentary to see what a wacky religion it really is.

this is one of the things that started me thinking, use the links to get actual copies of the scanned letter from the un confirming the fact, you can also get emails from the un confirming that you don't need to be a ngo for a library pass..be warned though i showed this info to my bro in law who sad the letters must have been doctored and didn't want to discuss it.. he said next i will be standing outside the hall with pacquards!! people can be blind to see what they don't want to see

It's a tough one, because for anyone to get anywhere, they first have to be willing to consider that the organization might be wrong...and it seems that has to be their choice alone. But, you never know how close they are to that. The risk you will take is being branded an apostate which will shut him off from anything you have to say...so be careful.
