So What Exactly is an Unbaptized Publisher

  A lady I know was telling me that she studied for 10 years and was considered an upbaptized publisher before being baptized.. Is that possible, I didnt think and organization such as the JW's would let you just soak up all their "knowledge" without becoming one of the crew... :)

  Although havent been on here in a while since I had my son, I came on here asking for advice because I was having trouble dealing with the fact my husband was thinking about going back to the dubs, and he still hasnt gone back..YAYAYAYAYAY... and Im soooo happy, he still has most of their beliefs , but thats okay, they arent 100% bad, they helped him change his life..But I dont bother him cuz I dont want him runnin back!!!!

  Unbaptized publishers are people who are studying or children of JWs who have met certain basic criteria. There are some questions in the new Organized book they have to answer about smoking, their sex lives, have they resigned from their church, etc. Then they announce at a service meeting that so and so has been approved to be an unbaptized publisher.

  Of course, the WTS teaches that only baptized JWs will live through Armageddon so you aren't saved yet.

  Some years ago they used the phrase "approved associate" and if they did something they could be DF'd for, they were removed and treated as if they were DF'd. Not any more though but they do announce they are no longer an unbaptized publisher (this might have changed in light of other changes).

  The idea is that you will not stay an unbaptized publisher for years but will advance to baptism within a year.

  Blondie pretty much hit it on the head...but,also you can now go out in field service and report your time. It's a big deal for younger ones or 'bible studies' to become one. Cause everyone then knows they're making such fine progress in the 'truth'.

  It's another strange expression, isn't it? After all, how can you be un-baptised? Do you go back in timre? Do you come out of the water instead of going into it? Weird.

  Unbaptized publisher simply means that you had better get it in high gear and take the plunge into the 'spirit directed' organization because if you don't God is gonna off you when Armageddon arrives in 1874 1914 1925 Soon, Soon, Soon.

  This phrase should have 'studying' people asking themselves 'W T F am I getting myself into". The unbaptized part is understandable. Dictionary . dom defines it as: adj : not having undergone the Christian ritual of baptism.

  However, its the 'publisher' part that would now have me asking for the cheque! Dictionary . com: Publisher, n. One that is engaged in publishing printed material.

  Unbaptized publisher means you knock on doors but you haven't been dunked (become an official member)

  I have mentioned this before, but I was a bit supprized to learn that in many congregations the number of unbaptized publishers were about half the full attendance for most meetings.... and the ONE thing thet kept them from being dunked was the door to door in every case I had opportunity to learn about first hand.

  Isn't the "un-" prefix denoting a 'positive' act, rather than as the WT uses it, a negative one?

  I would have thought that the "non-" prefix would have been more accurate.

  I was an "unbaptized publisher" right before my baptism. That's pretty muchw what it is. Ya wanna get baptized-gotta be an unbaptized publisher first which has always been no more than 6 mos. for most of the young ones.

  What a load of barf!!
