Almost all JWs I know view those who have left the organization has being on the same level has those DA'd or DF'd. They are all to scared to have any contact what so ever with someone who has strayed, let alone "offer loving and practical help to assist him to return".

I am a believer, despite everything I now know about the org, that things can actually change. I mean, worst things have changed. It just would take longer than many of us would hope for. While we all know the blood issue has not completely vanished, the truth is that is not as prevalent anymore. True, we can forget those unnecessary deaths. I am not apologizing for them, just citing an example on how some teaching that were central to the religion before, while still alive, are slowly fading.

I also noticed a sort of 'change' in the shunning policy being alluded to in the wt yesterday. i think that someone at Brooklyn is assigned to monitor this and other 'apostate sites' in order to get some real life understanding of the bible in the proper context. The 'prodigal son' certainly does not properly illustrate the current df'ing policy by the borg.

What I saw being intimated was a sort of 'nu-lite', a difference between df'ing and shunning. in other words, if someone is coming to meetings, then dubs can greet them at the kh only. No socializing. That was the buzz at our kh yesterday.

Is it possible that the gb has heard enough from the r and f regarding the inhumane practice of shunning, and/or that they know that many are not following the shunning bs when it comes to close friends and family?

    just saying!

Where there is a will, there is a way. If they are as eager to rebrand their bad image, they will find a way to do so without martyrs.

DF/DA/Former believer policy will not change. It is part of the superstructure that is needed for the organization to survive.

The same goes for FS, (i.e. busy work), the anti-higher education position, (i.e. do not allow critical thinking), and end times. Remove any of these and the others quickly fall under their own weight. The organization would no longer be JW.

They can never get rid of disfellowshipping. They have too many skeletons in their closet and too many crazy teachings to ever let that go. The 2nd they did no one would be "in line" or accept what they teach.

JW and Shunning go hand in hand. You can't have one without the other.

They often say friends and relatives 'choose' not to associate with df'd ones. So even if they are forced by law to forego this 'arrangement', they can still say it is the decision the members make not to associate with their families...and they will quietly make sure that happens.

The Spanish edition included a caveat.

Si encontramos a una persona que se ha apartado de la congregación pero no está expulsada, ¿la ayudaremos de manera amorosa para que pueda regresar?

If we find a person who has seperated themselves from the congregation BUT IS NOT DISFELLOWSHIPPED, will we help them in a loving way so that they can return?
