It was my understanding that some will be alive, but will be taken immediately to heaven at that time

Nope....no rapture amoung the witnesses. They MUST die first, then in the "twinkling of an eye" they are in heaven. Gumby

Hey there, I study prophesies on my own...and have come to the conclusion that we are in the great tribulation since around Sept..11...sometime.. But, that's just my personal observance...

Well, Armageddon's been "just around the corner" for as long as even the oldest jws have been in the org. It's just a hell of a long bend, that's all.

And some of the anointed, like the two who joined the gb last year, are quite young, so it doesn't look like it's coming any time soon, if at all.

I'm preparing some purple triangles and a few nice drinks for the anointed to help speed the process along.

Okay, that does it! I'm now hell bent to invent a tasty alcoholic beverage called the "Purple Triangle"

cant remember where the script. is but, "if those days were not cut short, no flesh would survive... but on account of the 'elect' those days will be cut short." i had it explained to me that the "elect" were the annoints. and the script. above is dealing with the great trib. so, apparently there are going to be a few stragglers left after the great tribulation. ???

"Sixth, the number of genuine anointed disciples of Christ is dwindling, though some will evidently still be on earth when the great tribulation begins. Most of the remnant are quite elderly, and over the years the number of those who are truly anointed has been getting smaller. Yet, referring to the great tribulation, Jesus stated: "Unless those days were cut short, no flesh would be saved; but on account of the chosen ones those days will be cut short." (Matthew 24:21, 22) Evidently, then, some of Christ’s "chosen ones" will still be on earth when the great tribulation begins."

I remember this issue. It was my understanding that the society used this arguement to prove that the end is very near. The annointed have to be on earth when the big A hits, and the annointed are getting old, and... well you get the picture. Don't buy any green bananas.

What happens in X amount of years when they are all dead and its clear there cant be any left because its been so long since they were 'seen as annointed'.

Let's have our cake and eat it too! Yay!!!

Of course. After all, what`s the point in having a cake if you can`t eat it?

Isn`t the newes GB-member in his 50s or something? He`ll probably live another 30 or 40 years (those GB-geezers live to be really old, that being high-on-power-crap must really do wonders for the health), so that will extend the time period until Armageddon long enough to do away with 1914 alltogether (or change it dramatically). Anyway, they`ll never run out of annointed, it`s just to declare that some dead "annointed" (and without specifying which ones, of course) to have been mistaken/lying about the annointed..ness (and what an insult to the dead that is, declaring, in abscentia, that you were a fraud. Not that I feel to sorry for them, of course).
