Hey Nick quiet a story! I wish you luck on the JC thing, but then I'm all for you not going who needs it? Why play into the cult club the results will be the same no matter what you do or don't do so why bother? LOL

" Hey were not done with you yet...stop!!! Were going to talk to your girlfriend and tell her what a double life your leading!"

I sprinted away from them and got in my car and sped off...and what was kinda funny was seeing them sprint in the opposite direction toward their cars to try to follow me...

Of course my girlfriend is confused as to whats going on and I just told her, " Sometimes people from your past come out of the wood work when you least expect to them...lets just drop it... to me the past is a closed book so lets keep it that way."

Double life give me a break! JW babospeak.

My only concern is that your girlfriend has a right to know about your past and I doubt it will matter to her that you were once in a cult, but I can only imagine it will clear up a lot of questions she must have after this event. You owe it to her, yourself and your future with her to explain it to her. It's been my experience that people can handle the truth but when there is a lack of information they tend to fill in the blanks for themselves and it's usually way worse than the truth.

Example; I can totally see her wondering if you were involved in some kind of illegal activity and those are conclusions you really don't want her to jump to. The more you avoid telling her the real story and the more events like this continue to happen (and they will) she will begin to doubt your honesty in many other areas. You can't really hide a big thing like being raised in a cult. She will understand that and it will probably explain a lot of other things about you she's wondered about and hasn't asked you about as well.

Honesty is always the best policy, I hope you think about what I've said and understand the bigger picture I'm trying to show you from my own experiences.

    Good luck Nick!

That's an unsettling and yet creepy experience for you..It really shows how the Borg doesn't cultivate real love for its members. They are not content to just counsel and oust you from the org for your "unacceptable" behaviour.. They want to try and ruin the new life you making for yourself by talking to your girlfriend.

Those elders are on a major power trip for sure.. Maybe they are a little envious secretly that you are enjoying a new life outside of the society,

I've learned not to go to the grocery store after meetings, the place is just crawling with JW's.

Yeah, I have not figured out what causes the elders to "stalk" some and leave others alone. My belief is that if you don't have someone in your corner they see you as "sheep" (pun intended) that can be lead to the slaughter. Something similar happened to a friend of mine. They kept calling him and showing up at his house. Until one day they DF'd him in absentia. But the friends he has that are still JayWabba's still talk to him and his family members were not in the "truth", so it does not matter to them. My guess is that those old school elders were upset that one got away. A friend of mine who is an elder told me once that when people leave the cong that some elders take it personally (which some of them should take it personally because THEY are the reason some have left) and they get mad and react in such hostile ways, such as stalking.

Wow, I've never heard of Elders™ going out of their way to confront someone in a public place like that before. Normally, they prefer to just take notes and then launch a surprise attack when you least expect it.

Confronting people in public places like that is an especially DUMB move for any JW to make. All you have to do to make them beat a hasty retreat is say something that makes them look like idiots.

    Like:

    • "Excuse me, do I know you?"
    • "Why are you people following me and harassing me?"
    • "Do I need to get the security people in this establishment to deal with you?"

If you even tangentially acknowledge their Elder™ship / authority (as you did when you attempted to hide yourself), expect to have them treat you as though they think they have authority over you. If you had walked in to the store and made no effort to hide from them, as though you had every right to be there, and acted like they were strangers, it may have taken longer for them to recognize you.

Truth be told, they don't need to form a Judicial Committee™ if you've been seen in uniform. The current rules state that they can disassociate you, for having membership with an organization whose goals are in conflict with the WTS's principles. They will simply announce that you are "no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses". This "disassociate for joining the military" thing has been used by the WTS for decades.

Now, if your mom knew about you joining the military, and she is a JW in good standing, *she* might be the one that they try to take Judicial action against if she has not reported you to the elders already. Hopefully she won't get DFd for "covering your sins", but it might happen, so be prepared for that.

    Welcome to the board General!

If the JWs bother you just call the police and tell them you're being stalked by psychotic cultists and you believe they want to do you harm. Press charges.

I've learned not to go to the grocery store after meetings, the place is just crawling with JW's.

Thanks for the tip. Now I know when to go shopping. I kind of like the idea of the local JWs seeing the smiling face of a known apostate right after a meeting.

What a great way to ruin their day!

They will simply announce that you are "no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses". This "disassociate for joining the military" thing has been used by the WTS for decades.

To expand on this a bit more, they have even been known to disassociate people whom they know to be engaging in conduct that is not approved by JWs/WTS. As long as there are two eyewitnesses who can corroborate each other, they make very little effort these days to convene a Judicial Committee™, notify the accused of when the JC is meeting, or even inform them that judicial action has been taken against them or announced at the KH.

Almost a year after the fact, we learned (quite by accident) that Mr Scully had been announced as having Disassociated™ himself. The rumor was that he wrote a letter to the Elders™, which was a complete fabrication.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if they've made a similar announcement about me. I haven't heard about it though.
