It is scary to look deeper, I feel as though someone is looking over my shoulder, but I can't help but ask the questions. Even knowing the truth about the organization, I wonder if I will eer have the strength to cut all my ties. I guess time will tell. I will keep an open mind and heart, pay intently and see what happens. As I was searching the site today I came across a member I think his alias was (Toe something) he ended his association with the JW's during his public talk and walked off stage. He had a link and I lost it, does anyone know who he is?

Bikerchic, That's the one thank you, I am really interested in seeing it. How did you decide not to be in the organization? I feel like I have lost out on the new system by even looking at this site.

unclear,
I know it is scary, I'm not offically out either, but have not attended in some time. Once you do some reading your fears will ease a bit.
One thing for sure, if there is going to be a new system, coming here will not cost you your right to it. Jehovah's Witnesses imagine they have the keys to the kingdom and God does not care for other humans. I never believed that, not for one minute ,even wihile I was an active JWS.
take care and hope this issue with blood is not a scary one that involves you or your family. do a lot of reading about it as so many have suggested.

Good glad I could help you.
Long (4 years of dealing with Elder's) story short. After all the mess I went through with my now X husband and saw the bad way the Elder's handled his JC and having an Elder tell me absolutely I could not expect the Elder's to act the way the Watchtowerâ„¢ said they should in matters of wrongdoing and further more he would not step up to the plate and expose the lies the Elder's were covering, well that was enough for me.
I packed up and left my husband, my home, my town, and the Congergation and never looked back. I knew by that time in my heart that no way was a God even a God called Jehovah could be behind this religion.
After doing lots of research on the Bible, religion and God I've come to the conclusion that who ever or how ever we all got here makes no difference to the one that put us here nor should it make a difference to me, after all if it did why have I never heard from him/her/it? I'll just live my life best as I know how and leave this earth a better place than it was when I entered the picture. In the end we're all worm food IMHO.
Do some research maybe you too will conclude that there is no "new systemâ„¢" and once you've debunked all those pesky little lies for yourself you will no longer be afraid for your future. I highly suggest among other books you read Crisis of Conscience by Ray Franz it will be a beginning of opening your eyes to the WTS.
Hang around and check out more reading here: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/32/1.ashx Take your time you've got plenty of it! Again welcome, and welcome to the beginning of your real life. You haven't lost anything and you'll gain a lot more than you can ever imagine now. Enjoy the journey!

There was an item in the magazines on blood where a doctor was quoted:
"Blood transfusion is basically an organ transplant". (They stopped condemning people to death for that, too)
First, vaccinations were allowed (1952)
Later, clotting factors.
Over the years more and more of the blood is allowed. Even my own Mother (who has had several operations without blood) is starting to see what a farce it has become.
More and more of the R&F are becoming unwilling to gamble their life for a policy which might already have been revoked months ago by majority vote. The WT will tell us when the time is right, even if people are still dying for a belief the GB no longer holds and knows is false.

It is scary to look deeper, I feel as though someone is looking over my shoulder, but I can't help but ask the questions.
That -- brought tears to my eyes. It IS scary...for all of us at first, but, it is worthwhile. You must be true to yourself or -- hypocrisy.
Unclear, my Mother died a few years ago, needing, but, not getting a blood transfusion. It is not surprising you must come to an Ex-JW site to ask questions about the blood issue. My own Mom didn't understand all the 20 changes to this doctrine since 1945 when it started.
She lay dying in a hospital full of trained, kind people who had the knowledge, expertise and equipment to save her life, yet she died. The WT even had their Hospital Liaison Committee (HLC) elder there, he should have known (I think he had to know) that JW's could take Hemoglobin which is a blood component that carries oxygen. Actually, it comprises 97% of a red blood cell, the other 3% is basically the cellular membrane -- the 'bag' the hemoglobin is packed in. Yet, JW's are still not allowed to transfuse a 'whole red blood cell'...does that make any kind of sense to you ?
The HLC Elder & my JW siblings lied to my non-JW father about just what JW's could accept. I was later told, that they never told him the truth, that JW's could take fractions like Hemoglobin.
Why ? "We thought it might confuse him -- that some JW's could take fractions and others could not. It's important that he sees JW's as being unified the world over. "
My Mom died, so this delusion of "JW Unity" could be preserved.
My Mom died over that nonsense and I am just a little bitter about that.
Like others have said, JW's cannot take 'whole blood', the way it comes out naturally, but, if you take it all apart into tiny pieces (fractions)...you CAN take it all ! Most JW's are so 'unclear' and scared of 'doing right by Jah' they choose the 'safe route' and refuse ALL blood.
This issue has visited me twice in my life now. I do not want to attend another JW funeral, perhaps this time it will be my children or grandchildren.
There is a great site that is basically a library of WT books and magazines over the years that will give you a great history lesson of all the changes over the years on this and other issues, here it is:
You mentioned "rape..." on the above site (if you go there) you will be shocked at the WT's views on the subject over the years. Like, Should you scream or not, if you are about to be raped ? What if you do ...or don't ? The subjects are listed in alpha order.
BTW, the site I listed is the 'mirror' site of another called "Quotes Watchtower" that previous site was sued and shut down by the WTS. All he did was "Quote" the WT, there was no commentary pro or con. The WT has found their own words, "embarrassing..." to qoute them.
Welcome to the board !
Always ask questions !

Hi UNCLEAR,
It's interesting that you should say that "we do not accept blood transfusions" You do! But it's such a bloody shambles that most rank and file Dubs just don't understand what they can and can't take anymore. I could go on ad infinitum but like the others have said www.ajwrb.org is the place to visit, and all the very best on your brave journey ahead. Just stay in touch and keep asking questions!
