What if its like. Dissasocciated people wont be treated like disfellowshipped ones. Or better yet, a loss of the DF arrangement.

I think consensus was reached that it was not mentioned at the 1995 convention, but was first discussed in the Watchtower later that year.

Guess it depended on where you lived. For me, it was most definitely announced, and very clearly and deliberately, at the 1995 district convention in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. I remember it vividly and clearly. This was the absolute final straw for me, listening to that talk, the elder who gave it was from my own hall and he went on and on about semantic definitions of "a generation" yada-yada-yada.. I even remember the final words of the talk "So brothers and sisters, the light keeps getting brighter as we near the end of this system".....I almost puked at that point. Seems very odd to me that it was only announced at particular conventions and not, at least, in all the North American conventions that summer.

Me thinks 1914 is not a problem. The "generation" was a problem. They need 1914 to support the appointment of 1919. There'd be no good reason for them to change 1914. They do have good reason to change the donation arrangement, the men only rule to hold jobs, the blood medical treatment/shunning practice, and the whole disfellowshipping/reinstatement practice.

I'm seeing their #1 problem as loss of members and #2, as loss of donations. I may have those reversed.

    thats true @ garbuss.

My brother keeps saying that the change will be allowing women to become elders, but that would leave me in a bind cause i dont want to leave and look like an Apostate AND a sexist, lol.

    WHAT IF...

There is no new light forthcoming at all?

    WHAT IF...

The Society is just reminding the sheep who the shepherd is and warning them to stay in line?

    Or...

What if it's an information gathering strategy? They could be putting all this talk out there and receiving feedback from COs through the DOs about what the friends feel is coming their way. Then the society can make a new light decision based on the feedback of the sheep!

Making decisions because they're expected by the sheep would be one way to make the sheep happier - happy sheep sit in seats and happy sheep shell out dough (cash that is).

Women becoming elders? Hmmm. That would be interesting. Perhaps they will be allowed to become elders but not allowed to shepherd the flock.

Technically the difference between a ministerial servant and an elder is that elders teach and shepherd the flock.

Perhaps sisters will be able to serve as ministerial servants. Perform counter duties, run the mics., set the platform up, etc. Leaving the men to do the shepherding more time to focus on the dwindling flock.

That isn't a half bad idea. (by that I mean for the dubs).

That's what I've been thinking reading this thread. I have two pictures in my head -

    1) Some bethel spy sitting at the computer reading here and laughing at how far off the mark we are

    or

    2) Damm - these apostates are always one step ahead of us!! How do they know these things??????!!!!!

LOL!!! Mary, I was sitting up in the nosebleed section which allowed me to make "discreet exits" whenever I found myself slipping into a watchtower-induced coma!

Listener: I cant remember the dates, but it included my circuit, which I think was 3A ? It must have been in June or July but I think Ontario has at least 2 separate D.C.s per year, unless that has changed. It was bloody hot, so I am thinking it was mid-july.
