Well lets put it this way...
Some are there for Social reasons
Some are there because they fear leaving incase they are wrong and God does destroy them
Some are hypocrites
Some want power
Some need to be to hold their family together
Some can't be bothered leaving
The rest believe it.

Interesting drew - I feel much the same. My point is that it's a very fluid thing. One can be a 'strong super JW' one day or on one issue and spiritually weak as piss the next (or was that just me lol)
Even when I was 'strong' the real me wanted out. One of the most powerful insightful things I've ever read concerning JW's was said here the otherday by Gary 'Armageddon Okies' Busselman: "They are JW's because they WANT to be JW's".

Drew: When I was fully immersed, it was my opinion there were THREE classes of dubs, not four:
1. The serious ones (doing pretty much everything they were "supposed" to be doing).
2. The not-all-that-serious (doing it their way, but showing up most of the time).
3. The Walking Wounded (hanging around wondering when the hell the magic wand was going to be waved to solve their problems, that being the only reason they were here).
The first group was about 33% of the congo in the 1980's, but now it is down to 20%.
The size of the other two groups varies widely by congregation.
All jw's are real jw's until they caught doing something 'unbecoming' or immoral, when that happens, they were never a real jw.

willyloman, when I started writing the list I was at three groups. I gave it a quick thought and then realized that I was putting two groups into one. Those that actually want to do the right thing, but are lost in a sea of JWdom, allways going along with what is told. They aren't the same as those who don't follow the societys rules, but still hold that it is the "truth" and that since they know it's the truth, they are safe. It just didn't seem fair to put these two togeather, so I broke them apart.

Well, let's see. Far be it for me to presume the mind of a very pissed off Jehovah but say there are 12,000,000 memorial attendees this year but half are only superstitious once a year dubs. That leaves 6,000,000. And half of these are just not that serious and are only in it because they have nothing better to do. That leaves 3,000,000. And half of these are having immoral thoughts about sister loose hips or brother tight trousers. That leaves 1,500,000. And half of these have been fiddling their monthly report cards. That leaves 750,000. And half of these have checked out apostate and porn websites. That leaves 375,000. And half of these have doubts about receiving blood. That leaves ..aw shit fractions ..
