That's the big announcement????? Free Bible Studies??? Special Talk???? Oy vey!
All dressed up for nada.

I thought the big announcement was going to be something wonderful like:

After careful and prayerful scriptural consideration brothers, we the governing body have decided to do away with the ban on blood transfusions. Yes, the scriptures place life as sacred and therefore new light has shown forth on these matters and we see now that putting life above obedience to the law is Gods will. After all the commandments were made for man and not man for the commandments.

or....

As you know brothers, our stand has been in the past to shun all those who either break Gods law or leave our organization. But after prayerful and careful consideration of the scriptures we the governing body feel the need for a reformation of our formerly strict, harsh and unscriptural stand. We therefore as of this date April 12, 2006 release all congregation members of the obligation to shun their family members and friends who choose to think, feel, or believe differently than we do. You may all go and beg their forgiveness, er, if they will have you or speak to you after how you have treated them.

Well thats all the special announcements for the evening. To conclude our meeting tonight we will have Br. Cecil come up to the piano and start us in singing song # 125 "Leave Your Brains At The Door For The Lord"

That's JW hypocrisy and smooth talking at its best trying to give to newcomers the impression that they are a conventional christian group which of course they are not since this a jehoavah rather than a Christ organisation and it's not even called a church.

And why should the Christ be pleased if someone attended the service of a cultic organisation?

Oh it would be fun to send this to a few people, but alas, I am only a secret rebel. I smile and play nice when dealing with witness relatives - they have NO idea what is going on in my head.

That's the same thing they've closed with every Memorial while I was in.

Probably wanted it to sound fantastic so people would come and bring b. students and for inactive ones.

Arrangements will be made for a qualified Christian minister to visit you at a time and place that is convenient for you.

I'm so glad a "qualified" minister will call! I'd hate to think they'd send an 'unqualified' one!

This was the first memorial that I missed - ever. It is unbelievable that I was not able to hear such an important "special announcement." This announcement may have made me re-evaluate my whole relationship with god's organization.....

Last year was the first year they gave such an admonishment in so "Official" a manner. IT sounded like, "This memorial was brought to you by the makers of Watchtower crap incorporated. If this had been a real rememberance of Jesus' death we would not have spent so much time talking about the little flock and how special they are." FDS = SUBMIT.

I tried to get thru the meeting so as to hear this new announcement but just couldn't sit there and watch people passing food around and acting like an idiot . Plus some people did make remarks that I found offensive . I thought maybe they were going to announce the GT had started , well I believe that the gulf war is the battle between the king of north and south but at this point world conditions have not climaxed to the extreme that Daniel 12 states so as to say the GT has started . There is alot of concern over nuclear threats which may create those conditions and also the recent concern over earth being hit by near earth objects and such . Conditions could turn to worse in an instant . Anywho , there was no seventh trumpet blast nor vortex into the new world .
