Its not fair he should expect you to participate in the JW memorial and refuse to go to your Easter Mass. JW's have it drilled into their brains that jehoobie will strike them dead if they so much as "set foot" inside a "pagan" church. You need to lay down the law with your husband NOW about this.
>Having said that, I think its only fair that you compromise with your husband if he does'nt want your kids raised as catholics either. Children should be free to make their own minds up about religion, belief in god, etc etc and should not have any religion forced upon them, either catholicism or JW.

What you need to understand is the jw's think theirs is the only right religion. Ok, so do Catholics I suppose. But it is different. JW's think every other Christian is unacceptable and unworthy of God's grace and salvation. JW's consider all other religions, including other denominations of Christianity to be not just wrong, but Babylon the Great!!!
They are God's organization. Everyone else is guess whose organization?
They are also COMPLETELY convinced they have the truth. THis is why your suegra is so annoying and obnoxious. Normal people at least acknowledge that they could be crazy or delusional. NOt a jw. Only other people can be mistaken or deluded. THEY HAVE THE TRUTH!!! If you don't accept it you are ignorant or evil.
Get it?
Now your husband, how much of a jw is he? The way you find out is to ask him "on a scale from 1 to 10, how sure is he that the jw is God's organization?"
Then you might want to ask him "if there is anything that could convince him that the jw do NOT have the truth?"
Also you might then ask "if there was proof or evidence that the jw are not God's organization, would you want to see it?"
If he reacts positively to any of those questions, you have some room to work with here. Otherwise you might be in for some trouble.
Cuidado!

What-A-Coincidence
Hi LaCatolica,
Welcome to the forum.
I worked at the headquarters of the Jehovah's Witnesses and served as an Elder in various congregations. The WT teachings are strict when it comes to associations once you are baptized.
My family is in the organization. If I say something contrary to WT beliefs to them, they will go to the elders and I will be disfellowshipped...they (mom, dad, my sisters and brothers) won't talk to me or even want to know anything about me unless I "repent." For the sake of keeping the family together, I keep to myself until the appointed time.

Welcome catolica, it obviously makes no sense to leave a mainstream religion to follow a destructive fringe cultic organisation that uses intense pressure and intense control upon its members.

Welcome LaCatolica.
Sounds like your husband is a "mama's boy" and can't stand up for himself and what he wants to do about religion
You on the other hand know what you want for yourself and your child. That's good.
He should be standing up for you when his mama rants. If not, I'm sure you will.
There is no excuse for the way a lot of JW treat others. They feel very holy and they are the only ones who are right. It is pounded into them.
The best to you and your little one!
