If you went to the Memorial, what was the attendance like?

yeah, yeah..and why does the preacher guy at the Memorial have to tell everyone how many people around the world attended the thing...who cares? What's the point?

The one I was at last night, suppossedly had 315 give or take people. Mind you, the hall is shared..they have one room with Spanish and one in English. And they get all giddy and proud by saying that the memorial is being offered in different languages to make them sound more interesting and important..

Again, who cares? I guess the "truth" is in the numbers!!! hahahahaha

LaCatolica...you'll soon realize...the Dubs are ALL ABOUT THE NUMBERS.

They are the "numbers" cult...it's literally what all their doctrines and hopes are built upon...

    Just like Vegas!

Our KH has 79 regular attendees, last night there were 190+ at the Memorial, and we had a late start time. There were a lot of non-JW family members attending, they won't convert let alone study. They attended to appease their JW family member. There were about 10 Bible studies and their families. I was actually glad to see them at the Memorial, let me tell you why.

The brother giving the talk is very old-school style and has little to no tact. The entire talk was cold and even a bit harsh. He said things like, "Only Christ's brothers eat & drink, since none of us here are in that special group we will respectfully observe".

The two brothers that offered prayer over the bread & wine are old, honorific elders in title only but no other responsibilities. The brother praying over the bread got confused and said we can all eat the bread, and then a few seconds later added we eat the bread symbolically. The brother praying over the wine gave about a 3 minute prayer and kept repeating the same thing over again, the speaker kept clearing his throat hoping the brother would wrap the prayer up.

One visiting couple was on the second row from the front, they laughed and whispered when the speaker was talking about the 144,000. At the end they didn't even stand to sing. One older sister brought her adult daughter (never baptized), son-in-law, and son-in-law's mom. The son-in-law went outside after the passing of the bread and didn't come back in. And after the meeting son-in-law's mom was in a heated discussion with the older sister and one of the elders assigned to greet newcomers on that side of the KH.

I think the WTS is its own worst enemy when it comes to the Memorial. JW meetings are already weird to the uninitiated, and so their most holy event comes off looking cultish. I was glad to see so many people looking confused, but at the same time I was embarrassed to be there.

attendance was light.....as any other meeting.

    I was very surprised...as I remember a packed house....with extra chairs.

Not many extra chairs....and quite a few empty seats around me.

I didn't go but my son told me about 119. Used to be about 160 when we were going.

Seems like half and half then. Some were full and others were not so full.

I always laugh when the sisters go all out to make themselves look nice - I want to ask them, are you doing it for Jesus or the friends?

Some dress like their going on the catwalk.

I agree Truthseeker, it seemed like attendance was low.

I was visiting a new KH in the valley since I was going to a passover seder right afterwards and wanted to have a sort commute there. It turned out to be a spanish congregation which was ok since I could follow along ok. But I was astonished when it was 7 pm and time to start and it seemed quite empty. maybe only 70 people there. I leaned over to one of the young brothers and asked if they had a small congregation but he said no, that more would be coming just late. Probably 20 or so rolled in about 5 minutes later and after the opening song.

Even so all together I would say there were just over a 100 or so there which seems like a very low number to me.

I had a faux pas during the passng of the emblems.

When I was passing the plate, I moved it over too fast and the plate being super-flat and slippery and the matzoh being the same, one of the pieces went flying off and fell to the ground! I quickly picked it up while the brother I was passing it to a few chairs over from me held the plate down low so I could put the piece back on it discreetly.

that was embarrassing. at least no one would be eating the piece that fell on the ground, i thought to myself.
