The lastest study article says in a nut shell that we should tell our new workmates/employer that we are a JW..For you folks who do not attend anymore or you've got out of the "Theocratic Routine" do you still make it know you are a JW?

i pretty much live isolated from the public.

so there isnt anyone to ask me what my beliefs are or anyone to tell.

my few friends that i have know i was raised jw. and know that my mental illness is connected to my jw experience.but they're ok with that.. they're beliefs are diverse and acceptance isnt based on religious beliefs.

Even when I was technically a "JW" I never told anyone because I was embarassed and did not want the stigma attached to it.

Even now, I only reveal my JW history to very very close friends (not even work associates) since I dont want the "ex-cult member" stigma being attached to me either!!!

For the people I am close to at work, they know my background. For the majority, they have no clue. There are a couple of a JWs that work here and I would rather they not think we have things in common, so as to think we should discuss things. That is all I need! My general response if questioned is - my family are JWs. I know the beliefs and I respect the people who live their life according to the beliefs because it is a tough religion to be a part of and I leave it at that.

I dont tell people I AM a JW as I dont feel I am, but I am not afraid to tell them I used to be. I feel it goes part way to explaining some of my behaviours and reactions, also it was a massive part of my life, bit like not telling someone you've been married when you were for 30 years.. how can you miss something like that out!

I also feel it's a good opportunity to give them some home truths about the 'truth'!
