So much to endure in so little time. no wonder you're such a mature guy.

Thanks for sharing - and don't give up hope on your mum and stepdad either, you don't need me to tell you how weird and wonderful God can be at times!

Karl, I'm blown away by what you went through, I'm sorry about it, sounds like it was painful. Cool that you're a Christian now, so am I. Has you relationship with your mom and step improved now that you're home?

yeh. it wasn't great after being kicked out but somehow we both put it behind us. i couldn't trust her with stuff again but i don't hold it against her and she's been good enough to not get involved in stuff i do.

That's quite an adventure for a 17 year old, I notice there were many so called worldly ppl out there that were willing to help you.

    great story Karl.

I've always liked you, now I feel like I know you better. Ahhh the stepdad thing. I've got a sociopathic, bullying stepdad and mom. They were fire and gasoline together. Then the cult power trip thing and they are just plain dangerous. Messed all of us kids up pretty bad. I too was told to leave home, although not over leaving the witnesses. (I was a good dub at the time!) Anyhow, I hope your mom and stepdad see through all the fog one day. Your a great dude in my book......

    I can't believe you're ONLY 17!

i think greendawn, that it was a shock to them too. i don't think they thought that i'd be able to manage outside of the org, thing is with the help of others, i could move on.

hey freedomlover! Yeah, i know. Stepdad thing and all that, people sometimes are too quick to blame the teenager. Yeah i am 17 and in October i'll be 18, which will be good cos then i can have some beer without worrying about I.D (though i look old enough)

Van Gogh, thanks for your words too! i know a joke about Van Gogh lol.

Vincent Van Gogh was in a bar, sat there drinking his beer when his buddy walks in and shouts "Hey, Vincent. You wanna beer?" to which Vincent Van Gogh replies "no thanks, i got one ear"...get it...get it?

That is SO TRUE! It took my parents screwing up 3 kids before some people FINALLY saw the pattern and saw it was them, and not us kids. Funny how, all of us kids have a great relationship together and yet have had to completely cut them out of our lives for sanity sake. I think it's great you and your mom have been able to make ammends somewhat.

ah, sad to hear about the family thing. Things are tough enough being a JW and then that.

Yep 18 for beer here and to be honest, where i sometimes sneak off to, the landlord doesn't mind so long as your a decent person and look around 19-20. i shall have a beer for ya
