  Do any of you remember the quote that was in the first part of "The Truth" book from a US offical spoken in 1960? It said something about the world being too harmful to live in within 15 years. Of course that pointed to 1975 without the book saying it.
  Of interest, the Tower pulled that quote out of the book after their 1975 failure. I still have an eariler copy of "The Truth" with that quote, and still remember using it at every door.

  the wt book quote Dean Acheson, ex usa secretary of state saying in 1960,

  he said: (or quite close): 'I know eunogh of what is going in the world today to say that in 15 years the world will become too dangerous to live in',

  I think the wt book also quoted another book titled "famine 1975" from another 'wordly' authority.

  so jw started running to the "hills" as the "sign" was clear ( what sign?, ask Carl) .

  If i know any history... iI dont know what mr Acheson had in mind or the context but n relative terms the world today is not more dangerous to live in than a few thounsand years ago.

  I remember the anticipation. We had one brother who told us he had stocked up 2-3 years supplies of food, water and other necessities so he would be prepared. Most of us thought he was over the top and not relying on Jehovah.

  I wonder if he still has his little stockpile. He must have had to replenish all of it several times over by now
