Thanks for the link jwfacts. After reading this I am also going to adress god as father. It is true that I would never call my parents by their first names out of respect. Also since the true pronunciation is unknown and Jesus did not even use god's name there is certainly no reason it would be a basis for my salvation. I am sickened by the fact that the WTBS felt they could add this name where they see fit...Rev.22:18,19 maybe THEY should read the bible once in awhile
Do you still refer to God as Jehovah?

I now believe in that which can be seen or proven. That doesn't mean if I can't see or prove it that it doesn't exist--but until God is a proven fact I'm not going to buy the idea. I don't refer to God as Jehovah or anyother name at this point. I refer to God as an idea others desperately want to believe in without facts to justify the idea.
I don't believe there is anything wrong in hoping there is a God, but when it becomes a religion, sect or cult, people view the topic with blinders. -

Nope. "Jehovah" has become the name of the cartoon god of the JW's for me. I, too, am not sure if there is a real GOD out there or not. I think I hope that there is something, but I'm not holding my breath in anticipation of finding out exactly what.

NO - but then as a dub I rarely did anyway - it felt wrong to call my Heavenly Father by what I understood to be His name (after all, I would NEVER have dared address my Earthly Father by his Christian name out of respect).
Also, why would I need to? We have only one Earthly Father , and as JW teach, only ONE Heavenly one too........so 'Father' is both sufficient and respectful in both cases.

The WTS often makes certain fallatious comments such as: "The name of God, Jehovah, occurs nearly 7,000 times in the Bible" [Paradise book pg 41]
The truth of the matter is that it does not. It occurs over 7,000 times IN THE OT PART of the Bible. Deceptive comments such as that found in the "Paradise" book blur the distinct fact the the Tetragrammaton is fully and irrevocably absent from the NT part of the Bible. From this Christian "Dispensation" marked by the writings of the NT we have to deal with a new set of circumstances.
This of course, does not invalidate the heritage left to us by the OT. It refers to God there by the distinctive name YHVH. The trend of modern scholarship is to regard the pronunciation of this word as "Yahweh" - the word "jehovah" now being seen as a mongrelization of the true name of the OT God.
So, when making reference to any OT quote, I find nothing wrong in using "Yahweh"
The NT however is another matter, and that is a subject for another time.
Cheers

Jesus answers my prayers. I pray to Him a lot.
I also pray to the Father through Him because Jesus restores people to union and friendship with God as their mediator. .

truth about the last days
Since from finding out that C.T.Russell was a Freemason from the evidence from the WT "Proclaimers" book, I decided to look at the subject of Freemasons. I did not realise that it it a HUGE subject to look at. Anyway, I did find out that the name "Jehovah" is a very important name to them as it is part of their Supreme Being- part of a trinity god named "JAHBULON". Comprising of Jehovah, Osiris and Baal. Also seeing that King James was also a Freemason, when King James created his version of the Bible into english, he may have inserted the name "Jehovah" instead of Yahweh or Lord, ect. Also, through translations, the name Yahweh may or may not be the correct spelling of the name of God. This is why and wiser to say and to refer to the Most High as "the Most High God". By the reference to this term was done even before the Isrealites demanded a name for their God. Even the tetragramaton YHWH that has been written on walls, stained windows or relics, I am not personally sure if this gives reference to a true God or a false one. The Most High God is the BEST way of addressing Him- just to be safe.

I call him God or Jehovah
It's not because I don't go to meetings anymore and that I don't agree with the JW laws, that they will push me away from calling God Jehovah.
The name Jehovah doesn't belong to the Watchtower
