ANyone pick up the latest copy of NEWSWEEK? On the cover is a bunch of mormomns and they stare at me as if to say bwahahahaha.

Anyone read the article? It looks in favor of mormons and ignores the many signs of it being a cult. Is NEWSWEEK mormon-owned like the Mooney-owned Washington Times?

    Hi, bboyneko,

You asked if we Mormons owned that magazine. I wish we did so we could deny payment to the reporter until he went back to SLC and did a better job of researching his article, and changed the whole tone of the article from a mocking "oh, boy, I can't wait...the Mormons are gonna get exposed now!" to something resembling the truth.

But it is typical of the tripe put out by nonmembers who are selling what the public at large prefers to read and we aren't paying his salary. We aren't buying the mag either, since it has been sent out via the web to nearly everyone so we don't need to add to their coffers in support of poor journalism.

Other than that, it was fine! : )

    Susan,

You spoke almost like a loyal JW.

Not much difference between mormons and JW's except mormons are much, much more powerful

    bboyneko,

And honest, sincere, happy, and tolerant of those who choose not to see any of the above in us.

    P.S.

That I say his research was faulty and his overall tone snide makes me "like a JW"? I don't think so.

Don't paint with such a broad brush. Errors in research occur. Some deliberately, some despite best efforts. Spotting them is easy if you are well-versed in the subject matter, as I am in this one.

Unlike what you may think, we LDS do not feel a need to gloss over anything past or present. Again, please don't lump all religions together. We are not JWs. They are not us. We aren't Catholic, Baptist, or Presbyterians either. They aren't us. Look at us individually and you will be better off.

Please do tell us more about where we are wrong since you are an expert in this feild.
