I get Newsweek and only got a quick look until one of my family members made off with the magazine.

What I did manage to pick out from the article so far was:

    1. 12 million Mormons, most in the USA
    2. 90% of all politicians in Utah are Mormon.
    3. Most heads of all business in Utah are Mormon.
    4. They are renaming the church from "The Mormon Church"
to the "Christian church of Christ" ? Something like that, the
point is they want to be known as Christians.
    5. They are trying to put more emphasis on Jesus and less on their
    Unique prophets.
    6. They are trying to become more mainstream.
    7. They are using the Olympics to show case the Mormon religion.
However they deny that they are using the Olympics to try and
    recruit

If I can find the Mag tonight I will post more later.

    Bboyneko,

Hey, why didn't I get one of those cars?? Where was I when they were handing them out? Oh, yeah, probably in line mixing up the "special" koolaid we don't have either.

    Thanks for the joke!

    Winston,

I have no idea where or if you are wrong. Are you?

I only said I was well-versed on the topic of the magazine article in question. (Now if you were the author of said article...) LOL

    Hi, Naeblis,

SIGH -- It's sad, I know, but Mormon men today can only have one wife. They're deprived but holding up well under the circumstances. We feed them lots of jello.

    : )

Susan, I'm glad you took it instride. When i was a JW I showed this cartoon to a fellow JW, because I thought it was funny. He looked at it in disgust and said 'It is awful how satan manipulates the media against jehovahs organization'

    Hi, Ghost,

Do we have the same rules about disfellowshipping and apostacy as who? JWs? I don't know what your rules are, I only know what ours are, so I really can't compare.

I do know we don't shun anyone. Ever. We consider those who have transgressed to be in need of more fellowship, not less. They need the love and support of the congregation more then than ever.

Secondly, it's not a punishment, per se.

Third, I simply don't know enough about what else you want to know to comment more.
